I don't know if this is sheer coincidence or not but I have broken no contact with my ex just a couple of times. We broke up 2 1/2 months ago. My friend pointed out that it has always been right before my period that I responded to her calls and/or texts and suggested a theory on why we need a "mate" before we drop an egg. Has anyone else found this to be true?

I think a more likely explanation would be that before a woman's period, her levels of serotonin goes down. In women who are prone to it (due to low levels to begin with or due to a recent loss), this could lead to feelings of sadness, insecurity or depression. When we have those feelings, our instinct is to reach out to others (maybe a survival instinct to save ourselves). We want nurturing, warmth and love--which helps to ease those feelings (sadness, insecurity and depression).

Some animals go off by themselves to give birth so I don't think I agree with the needing a mate to drop an egg theory.

I find that when im due on my hormones are that all over the place that i can't keep up with myself and im usually and my most emotionally vulnurable and weakest during this time. If you usually get down in the dumps before you're due on or depressed....this is most likely to be the reason why you break N/C...because you're looking for comfort in those you feel closest too and those who have comforted you before. Just stay strong, keep your chin up...be aware of when you're next due on...keep yourself out with friends and having a laugh...it helps. :)

Hey there's even a cool website that lets you track your moods, etc... and even sends you e-mail reminders of when you're about to start.
