Send me strength to let go! My first born leaves on Thursday for two years (overseas). I know my feelings are totally selfish but I feel such a loss! I know she's heading into a brilliant future but I will miss her so. I'll even miss the arguments! I realize she'll be back (as soon as Christmas) but I know this is pivotal for her and she'll return a different person. She'll never really be "living" with us again.

my heart goes out to you ... this must be some very scary (but exciting, too!) territory to explore ...

I pray that you have peace of mind as you send your girl off on Her Great Adventure, and that she doesn't hesitate to use all that good advice you've drilled into her.

on the bright side, she sounds like a mature-for-her-age kid, so she'll have the advantage here ;)

meanwhile, have y'all agreed on certain check-in times, like calling once or twice a week on certain days, just so you know she's doing fine, and so she has a regular connection to family to help prevent homesickness?

been there...

but remember, I know you're proud of her... this will be an amazing experience for her...but it's hard on the 'mommy' I know.

She'll be fine, one day we all have to let go. Sending you a ton of strength... :)

Give her a big hug for me... and wish her all my best!
