i met this girl at barnes and noble and then saw her again at on the border (a restaurant she works at). she is in grad school at OU and seems like she has a good personality. i got her number and am looking forward to going on a date.

her forehead, cheeks, and chin are covered in what looks like hypertrophic scar tissue. her ears, nose, eyes, and lips are untouched. i still find her beautiful.

have you ever been attracted to, dated, or fallen in love with someone that had a disfigurement that might scare most people?

Yeah, I've been attracted to someone that was a little disfigured in the face and could easily see how this can happen.

Looks don't mean that much if you really get to know someone and you find whats on the inside attractive.

don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good looking girl and one thats in shape, but mostly looks arent all that.

Ever hear that song 'She'll make her way' by Natalie Merchant (or something close to that). That song is about a woman born disfigured, but she was a strong confident woman and actually had many boyfriends and many offers to be married.

I like that story.

This is where women and men differ. A woman would never give a disfigured or crippled man the time of day no matter who he was , but most men would consider a relationship with a woman less than physically perfect.

What?! WTH do you base that generalization on?

I think you've been dating the wrong women.

I almost fell out of my seat... tooo funny!

I once dated a woman with a disfigured toe nail on her little toe. I broke up with her for wearing open toe'd shoes.

I also want to add, make sure it is not hereditary! Last thing you want is a bunch of screaming elephants herding in your living room.

What you are saying is that she is an attractive woman with some features disfigured. But not enough to totally circumvent her still being attractive.

There are many, many women around that are disfigured and virtually no men notice them. I`m talking about very overweight women. Don`t really ever notice them now do you, supertouch?

What planet do YOU live on? That's absurd!

i met someone recently that either had really bad acne or burns on one side of her face. i like her and it doesn't affect how i feel about her at all.

Ummm... no.

My ex-boyfriend was born with a cleft lip and palate, and had surgery to correct it all throughout his childhood. His upper lip had a noticeable dip to it where the scar tissue tightened up, and his nostrils were not symmetrical.

Nevertheless he was one of the most attractive men I have ever been with. Even 3 years into the relationship I would still catch my breath looking at him. Not only his physical beauty but his outgoing nature and natural charisma all added up to a very alluring man. Not to mention his personality and so on which was also an attractive factor.

Well, take out the "still," and you might have something. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Anyway, this is a wonderful story - full of the optimism of life. Thank you so much for sharing. It has touched me quite deeply. In fact, it has made me hard.

Personally, in my experience it's those with the scars that you can't see that you have to worry about!!

Well, I take pride in being 1930's gangster ugly

Do you wear a fedora and say things like "this is how its going to be see, i don't want any funny business see, or i'm going to have to wipe that grin off your mug and show you what its like see" ?

Absolutely! And gay to me still means happy!

WTH! It's the other way around.Men that are bald and fat with attractive skinny women. NEVER have I ONCE seen an attractive male with an ugly woman, unless married, cause by that time women let themselves go. The difference between them and you is that you are too negative and not energetic OR outgoing enough to attract women or at least start decent conversation with them. And yes you are negative: that one post says it all.

Maybe you're a lesbian. Either that, or you need to get out more.
