That would be there only responsibility. The spouse would pay all of the bills, do laundry, grocery shopping, schedule repairman, etc. He would have no say in anything.

That is my parents except in addition to doing all the other stuff, my mom works full time. Doesn't it suck when that happens?

corazoncito Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I'm sure my BF wouldn't complain if I suddenly started to do all of that stuff on my own and never asked/allowed him to help out. Hell, I know I sure wouldn't mind if he suddenly became a domestic goddess. Actually, he'd probably still want to do some grocery shopping and cooking cause he's more of a gourmand than me (or do I just let me think that, so he'll split the shopping/kitchen duties? Heh, heh! I'll never tell...)

Sometimes my mom tries to help but she just ruins it.

halfarock Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 I don’t mind at all if a woman wants to clean and keep the household. I’d be disinclined to have her paying my bills. Some women would end up buying themselves a lot of accessories. Plus, I don't think I would like not having a say.

I would be crazy not to accept that 'deal'... in a second! The spouse would pay all the bills, do all the chores... my only responsibility would be to go to work and spend my money any way I want... Geez...

Do you have any idea how fat and lazy men would become if that were the case? This country is fat and lazy enough as it is, generally speaking of course.

Not necessarily... they can be fit and out-going... and have all their money in their pocket and no responsibilities at home... How amazing!

Or the other way around. I think the amount of work evens out. I think both need to be participating members in the household, outside work notwithstanding. After all, most of us who work outside of the home get weekends off, holidays and vacations. Are you saying that a stay-at-home spouse should never get any time off or relief? That wouldn't work for me!

I would say that he would still be stupid not to agree with that type of 'deal' he would still have some money and no house chores to do.. nothing to worry about except his work...and possibly his mistress.....
