It's summer, very hot, and a great time to go swimming, right? However, I have a really hard time being comfortable in a swimsuit, in part because I've got stretch marks on my thighs. Can't really remember when they showed up but they do make me very self-conscious--I'm only 20 and have never been overweight or anything so I'm not sure why they showed up.

Anyways, I guess my question is, do you guys really notice things like this, and if you do then what's your general reaction/thought?

your are uncomfortable of what guys will think of you. dont worry , just go out n have fun. if you are considering finding a date at the pool , then just like any other place , some will be attracted to you & some wont be. be confident.

as for stretch marks , drinks lots of water , have a good diet. there are other remidies also. consult a doc.

I agree with the other poster... just go and enjoy yourself...

There is absolutely nothing that can be done about stretch marks... so you got to live with it... accept that and just try to forget about them.

It's like cellulite, if every woman who has cellulite wouldn't go at the beach, wow... there wouldn't be almost any women out there.

Never mind what the guys think... what if they say they do mind... so what? what are you going to do about that?

Oh lord- talk about sweating the small stuff.

Nobodys body is perfect. I guarantee it. Anyone who looks perfect has been airbrushed. Birthmarks, cellulite, stretchmarks, acne, hair, dimples, dry skin, veins, scars, etc etc etc. Overthrow this goddamned airbrushed culture!

Learn to love imperfections. I find scars and birthmarks immensely interesting. They make people human, and nothing annoys me more than when people try to cover up the little stuff.

I'm fortunate not to have any, but I don't mind seeing them on others. I really don't understand what the fuss is about, why people make such a big deal over the marks, use creams and all that. I'd worry more about not getting sun burned. Have fun and ignore your thighs.

Stretch marks have the ability to fade over a long period of time, but they never go away; this is something I think most everyone realizes therefore it's not as big of an issue as you might be thinking. During puberty, I gained/lost a significant amount of weight and I still have the stretch marks on my hips, although they are much lighter and look more like scarring (17 yrs. later)...they bother me every once in a while, but I've accepted them as just part of me...and I think women that have had babies, etc, etc, and how self-consious they can be with how this effects their bodies...still not a big deal but I'm glad I'm not them...YET...also be glad because I have really OLD female patients, in their 80's and 90's...and believe me, you look just fine compared to what you will as an old lady!!!

Stretch marks wouldn't bother me,

It is what it is and if someone wastes their time and relationships on really superficial stuff like stretch marks then they are just being an idiot.

There are lots of other things we should be concerned with..

No, there are many creams out there that can get rid of them or greatly minimize them.

Except.... who cares? Not everything on the human body is pretty and perfect. Ball sacks are pretty bizarre looking, IMHO. If a guy can deal with my stretchmarks, I can deal with that funky hanging skin sack between his legs.

:lmao::laugh: @ "ball sacks are pretty bizarre looking"

Well the OP seems to care since they make her uncomfortable, I don't think that everything needs to be fixed on a body unless it's an issue.

If she is really that bothered by it, I don't see anything wrong with trying the creams, but I think they just fade the marks at most...however, they fade on their own with time anyway...unless the creams speed up the process somehow, I don't see the point in wasting the money...

Ok i'll confess I have stretch marks on my breasts which I know isn't uncommon but it does make me self-conscious when it comes a guy seeing them for the 1st time...any thoughts men? Is it a turn-off any more than stretch marks being in other places on the body?

I have stretch marks on my breasts too. I went from a B to a D cup withing a matter of months my junior year of high school. There's nothing I can do to get rid of the faded squigly white lines. Never once have I had a guy say "eeeew, your boobs have stretch marks on them" In fact, whenever I've even mentioned stretch marks to these guys they have simply said "Who cares?".

Honestly, I don't think guys care. And if they do then they aren't worth my time and I won't worry about it.

I’ve always thought that all women had at lest one stretch mark. In the grand scheme of things I don’t think that they really matter. Those big ugly warts are another issue.

Doesn't bother me. Beauty is on the inside.;)

plenty of normal people have stretch marks who have never been overweight, i think it's more common on people than you realize.

An ex of mine had them, honestly i didnt even know what it was until i asked her...and a little thing like that didnt change my perception of her one bit.
