I have been on a diet and have been exercising everyday for 3 weeks now. I've felt better and thought I was even starting to look like a was tightening up(not much, though :S).

Then... my best friend came in town to visit me. I don't want to put the blame on her, because it WAS my fault for getting fat, but I feel that she was the one that caused me to gain so much weight. All she ever wanted to do was go out to eat when she lived near me! Well, she came to visit me this last weekend and guess what she wanted to do.....go out to eat for lunch AND dinner. She stayed with me for 4 days and I didn't get to do my exercises AT ALL! I felt sooo guilty about it! I was doing SO good and then suddenly I stopped. Now, I don't have the motivation to do anything again. I'm back on my diet, but I just can't seem to be motivated enough to exercise!

How can I get through this 'slump?' Has anyone had the same problem before?

you have to force yourself to get started with your excersise again.. and then it will be easy again.

when you eat out, there are still many healthy options, and you can eat less and have more leftovers

You know, what you described is REALLY tough.

People don't understand how hard it is to continue to eat well.

I literally tell whoever is pushing me food that 'I simply cannot eat that right now.' or I say 'Just a little.' then they insist you have more.

To avoid a fight or attention, I let them give me what they want, I eat a little, and throw the rest out.

My point is you have to communicate what your eating needs are and stick to them.

For example, I make dinner my smallest meal. And I only eat fruit for dinner on Monday and Wednesdays. I dont make a show of it, but you have to to keep the momentum of eating what suits you.

Otherwise, you get back into that mode of eating bad.

To help get back on track, maybe try weighing yourself everyday (works for me, not everyone). I mark it down on a whiteboard at work. Keeps me focused on it and I see if I gain or lose. When I start gaining, I get real motivated and get back on track.

Just some thoughts.

Also, you have to find an exercise you like or enjoy.

No normal human is going to stick with an exercise they hate!

I took a martial art and the people in my class became friends and its a good atmostphere of cooperation. Thats what works for me.

Also, I lift weights during commercials (I LOVE tv).

Get creative, but keep it fun as much as you can.
