Yes, it's a little forward. You should wait for the guy to suggest a time and then ( if your free ) you can accept it or suggest another time.

This sounds like something you would say to a friend not a date.

 

I would suggest you just say. "Yes. I would love to."

Leave the particulars to him as to when and where.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Are you seriously analyzing the desperateness of the statement 'Sure, when are you free?'

 

I think you need to step away from this forum for a while. You're beginning to not be able to see the forest for the trees. If you're thinking this hard about a simple statement like that, I pity the woman that has a full conversation with you. I'm sure within any conversation you would probably identify 15 or 16 warning flags and reasons to dismiss her.

 

How about maybe accepting the question as a mutual reciprocation of a request that the man initiated? There's a thought.

I don't think you sounded desperate at all. In fact, you just replied to hanging out and asked when. No big deal. I'm sure the guy was super happy just to find out you were up for hanging out. Let him tell you when he is free and go from there. Good Luck!
