Starry-eyed Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Last night, between long-running bouts of insomnia, I dozed off and had this weird dream. Possible TMI alert: I was in a place, like a land or country, where women were forced into marriages or harems. And I was in this room on the floor with this Middle Eastern guy standing over me, this tall, dark, older guy with a mustache, and he was trying to have sex with me. He was trying to put his dick inside me, but it wouldn't go in, like it wouldn't fit. Then he turned me over and tried to stick it up my butt. And I was going, "Please, no. Please, no." But of course he ignored me (guess that's how things work in this dream land) and kept going for my butt, and I was really afraid of the pain and bleeding, but again it wouldn't fit. And then I was afraid he would kill me. So, that's the probably with dozing and fitful sleep - I get weird dreams. Does that happen to anyone else? I don't know why the guy was Middle Eastern except maybe that yesterday I stopped at a Lebanese-type cafe and picked up a to-go menu.
LoveLace Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I'm sure its purely entertainment-based, but I live by Dreammoods.com, you can find anything there, and 90% of the things I look up always relate to me somehow. I don't know if you'll find this true in your case, but: A foreigner represents an aspect of yourself that you find strange or tend to neglect, such as feelings or talents. As for rape, it says that some women desire to feel sexually overpowered, or it could represent vengeful feelings towards the opposite sex. OR apparently it can also symbolize that you feel something or someone is somehow jeopardizing your self-esteem, or making you feel forced about something.

Wow, LoveLace, those things DO relate to me! Except I don't feel vengeful, but the other things... Hmmm. It was just such a strange feeling in my dream. Maybe I do occasionally desire to be overpowered. Well, I guess there's no "maybe" about it; sometimes I do.
LoveLace Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 The website is great..I"m telling you! Even if it's all B.S, it still makes you think about things in ways you haven't before...and it ends up fitting with something true in your life!
Author Starry-eyed Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 Here is one of the things it says about dreaming about harems: '"To dream that you are held prisoner of a harem, suggests that you are seeking acceptance of your own sexuality. " Just interesting how this coincides with some circumstances in my life. I don't know if I'm seeking acceptance of my sexuality, but I am definitely using and exploring and becoming sexually active (with a new person). "To see a foreigner in your dream, represents an aspect of yourself that is unfamiliar or strange to you. You may be neglecting or ignoring some important feelings or talents." And I thought it was just because it was a Middle Eastern guy who handed me the menu at the cafe! Thanks for the site, LoveLace. I'll have to look up things like tall and petite now, too, for any possible insight into guys and if they can change their types (as on other thread). I hope your guy sees how beautiful you are!
Storyrider Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I have dreams like that often... but I'm the guy. OMG, was that you???? No wonder his name is Enema! Here is gypsy Storyrider's interpretation: You have sexual fantasies you are worried don't fit with who you are. Sex and your own sexuality feels foreign to you, and you feel resistant to it and out of control. Great thread title, SE. This was the first thread I wanted to read when I logged on.
doiask42much Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 And I thought it was just because it was a Middle Eastern guy who handed me the menu at the cafe! Cerise I think? started a thread about rape fantasies a few days ago. I forget exactly what it was called. Some overlap. Kinda, sorta. Who's the new guy? How exciting! Sigh.
This_Too_Shall_Pass Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Starry-eyed, I don't know about weird - but that dream of yours sounded more like a nightmare! Scary...if I were you I would've woken up in cold sweat, probably. I don't have any interpretation of the dream for you - sometimes the mind just puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with these freaky combinations.
Road Rage Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Dreams are about emotions. The symbolism is used to explore emotional aspects of your life. When you reflect on your dreams, notice how you feel. Dreams are always rife with emotion.

SR, gypsy woman, there is probably some truth to that. Sexual feelings, fears, and all kinds of things are on my mind - and sometimes my body! - lately. Maybe it represents some of the things I worry about or feel about CW. Cerise I think? started a thread about rape fantasies a few days ago. I forget exactly what it was called. Some overlap. Kinda, sorta. Who's the new guy? How exciting! Sigh. I'll look for that thread. Thanks. I just mentioned in the friend thread that I'm going through a divorce; it's almost over and I am dating a co-worker (CW). Life doesn't go the way you expect it! I think my zombie is sexy, too. It's like having a crush on myself! I like yours, too. Is it you?

Well, when I read back over my post, it does sound kinda scary. I guess it just wasn't as scary to me as some other dreams I have. I am a vivid dreamer. And it's just nice to have other people listen to my weirdness and tell me I'm not a complete nutjob! Dreams are about emotions. The symbolism is used to explore emotional aspects of your life. When you reflect on your dreams, notice how you feel. Dreams are always rife with emotion. Thanks. That fits in with a lot of the interpretations about fears and sex. It's true that you have to look at the emotions felt during the dream. I so appreciate everyone's replies. Last night I took something to help me sleep and don't remember any dreams, for which I am glad!!

After all, you'e a fellow bookworm, and we've even read some common books! (Historical fiction, remember?) Yeah, that description sounded like nightmare fiction...complete with bogeyman and all. But it was only a dream.
RecordProducer Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I would say the harem implies that you feel like you have no choice in a certain situation so you feel forced to do what someone (or some people) with more power or authority oder or suggest or expect you to do. The two main keys in the dream are lack of your defense and fear of the consequences if you'd object. These are the keys, because one introduces the problem that your sub-conscience is fighting against (disgust with your lack of choice) and the other one gives the answer: fear of what would happen if you'd resist. The sexual element is involved because lack of power always hurts us on the deepest level, right in the core of our existence. Not being able to fight back is rooted deep in your conscience as inability to survive; and for millions of years - this was true. Your intimate freedom is violated when you are over-powered. Dreams are usually exaggerations of our real sensations. So in reality, if you're caught and chained by higher authority, he can do whatever he wants to you - or else he may kill you. Does your mind fight your boss, your nasty co-workers, your friends? It's definitely a man or more than one man in a position of authority. And it has to do with you being younger and female.
doiask42much Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Starry, no, my avatar wasn't and isn't me. It was Zhang Ziyi, whom I've been told I bear a passing resemblance to. Now it's Lady Sovereign, whose "don't give a sh*t" persona I would love to have.
