doiask42much Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 GregsBad, a guy who liked me but wasn't sure how I felt about him insulted me by mocking my glasses, which I happened to be wearing because I had taken out my contacts and he called me so late I wasn't sure we were going out. I had on light makeup and decent clothes (what I wore to work that day), but he said to me, "Wow, you really don't care what you look like when you go out, do you?" He had intended to do what you described above but it backfired horribly and I never let him forget it. To this day, he is probably kicking himself for it. Or maybe not so much now that he has a gf. Though he said to call him if I wanted to have hot sex and he would gladly cheat on her. As if. I do think the relative success of tactics like this does somewhat depend on your looks, though, i.e., you have to at least be average. I saw a guy demonstrate a similar tactic on TV, in which he gave a backhanded compliment by complimenting a hot woman's hair and nails then insinuating that they were fake, and the woman got incredibly defensive but surprisingly desperately wanted his approval. Of course they were trying to show that this works, so they probably only showed footage that supported their theory.

What is with me and jerky guys? I think maybe because I am insecure I can come off as being stuckup and they feel a need to take me down a peg or two? I really don't know. I am hypersensitive and have the memory of an elephant so comments like these really screw me up.

There are guys claim they look for very attractive women with self esteem issues only as if they're supposedly easy to prey on with criticism and back handed compliments. I wouldn't want to really hurt anyones feelings. I guess there's a balance somewhere. I'm still learning ... and I'm not a young man.

When a girl gets to the point where she saying; "Go away! He's Mine" , he politely accepts defeat and backs away. Then the next night, they trade roles. So one wingman says to the other, "Can I be Frank with you?" Then the other says; "No! It's my turn to be Frank!"

That is being confident and secure. Listen, anytime an attractive woman gets pissed that you didn't call? It's a GOOD thing. Yes, as long as is not's being done to manipulate them. If you're doing it to rile them up, it's flat out being a jerk. All that talk about low quality / high quality girlfirends ... sounds a little nerdy to me. No offense ok. You'll learn in due time. Quality>quantity any day of the week. There are plenty of hgh quality, attractive females who WANT to be a little naughty, and they WANT a guy who is a little edgy and sexy, someone who will make them naughty. True. But they will not stay with a jerk. They want a strong, confident, secure, happy, intelligent guy with a good sense of humor. Not a manipulative, game-playing, jerk. Then if, on top of the edginess, he's stable and successful - and doesn't lie Likes to cook, share in housework, etc etc I'd say he's ahead of the game. Stable + Successful can still = jerk. It doesn't mean they are well balanced by any stretch of the imagination. It all goes back to having game and know when to call or not call. When to abruptly have to hang up and say "talk to you later" When you refer to it as "game" then it's being manipulative. If you're genuinely busy and have a life then it's not a game. It's NOT always good to call right away. (staying on topic ) No not always. Especially if you have a life.
