TheSilentType Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I've always heard that its hard getting over a first love. So how would you feel if you were not someone's first love, but they were yours? Would you feel jealous if they still cared a lot for their first love? Or would you get in a relationship with them but not commit and wait till someone better comes along?
ruby_gloom Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 i would not get involved with someone who was still in love with their first love. while 'caring' for someone is different than being in love with them, i don't believe i'd be able to be in a relationship with someone who still 'cared a lot' for their ex, especially if their rupture is fresh. i believe that after some time (usually a long time) it is possible to care for an ex/first love/whatever as person/friend, but shortly following a break-up, i think that that 'care' is more likely 'love' rather than any platonic feelings. that's just disaster waiting to happen--a relationship with someone like that. further, i wouldn't engage in a relationship with someone if i was not certain i wanted to be committed to them and much less if it was only a pass time of sorts, while i wait for 'someone better.' that's disrespectful and derogatory to the person, imo. besides, that just seems like a bunch of mind games to me, honestly, and mind games are no foundation for any relationship.
