How did you guys feel about the last episode of the Sopranos??

At first I thought it was a cop out, but I've been mulling it over. I've decided I liked it. It was much richer than it seemed, I think.

It left the series with that feeling of decline of the empire, everyone stayed in character... love how the son just completely gave up the philiosphical ideals and dreams (which were unrealistic) and just went back to being a selfish brat, for example.

And I love the fact that maybe the family will be wiped out with the possibility that Meadow (the only hope) might not be.

We have the chance to write the ending in our heads, loaded with all the rich information the brilliant series gave us over the years, that we can apply our own morality or cynicism, or whatever to the "what next".

I don't think it's any mystery that it left the series with the possibility of a revival or continuation/spin-off at some point in the future, in another guise with the remaining characters. I like that, too.

There was no ending, just menace mixed with the banal. A regular family sharing onion rings in a low priced restaurant, while menacing figures who may or may not kill one or more of them enter the diner.

I enjoyed the show's open-ending and ambiguity. The Godfather allusion scene was great, too. (Was that guy just going to the bathroom?). Either way, Tony will end up indicted or dead, or both. Such is the life of a movie/TV mobster.

ya i agree with you both... I think that if the ending was too extreme or overwhelming, it would be to HOLLYWOOD...This just kept the show real and familiar.
