Should I say something?

Ok, so i've been reading the posts on here for a fair while, and have finally decided to bite the bullet and post myself!

I know my post will probably be fairly similar to others, and if it is then I apologise in advance, I guess I just need a little bit of advice.

Ok here goes, with a bit of background!

I'm 20 in a few months, and I've never had a bf, never done anything with a guy. I've had a few guys ask me out, but its either not felt right/not wanted to ruin a friendship/ timing wasn't right etc.

Ok, so my current situation.

I met this guy (x) through one of the guys (z) i live with at uni, a bit before easter. We got on really well and i thought, ah yeah, i could like this guy. Anyway, easter came and went and I managed to convince myself that I didn't have a thing for him.

Things have developed and we've become friends ourselves - spend a fair amount of time together in a group with other mutual friends, and recently i've found myself somewhat smitten with him :s

At the start of last week I msged him saying how we hadn't seen each other for ages and that at some point we really should catch up/go out in a group. He reminded me that we'd bumped into each other only the previous week. Not only that, but he'd remembered exactly what i'd been wearing, and our entire conversation. In the end we went out for a drink with some other friends, and then stayed up fairly late chatting on msn.

during this conversation I mentioned that i was meeting another friend the follwing day, who lived nearby where he resides. The next day came, went to meet my friend, and x was there with two friends (who i also know) revising.

Later on that day there was an event planned that we had both been going to attend, but it was cancelled. We got talking again, and decided to hang out anyway - just the two of us. This was the first time this had happened. We spent a few hours together and then some other friends joined us. We then went to the beach, where x and i kept walking on ahead of the other two people we were with, and ended up sat on a bench together watching the sea, and the stars. We all then went to a park, where it was dark. Again x and i wandered off by ourselves, and we ended up linking arms, and he then proceeded to hold my hand. Even after we broke the hand hold, we ended up walking toether and resumed holding hands, for the rest of the evening.

A few days later, i bit the bullet and asked if he was busy and if not did he want to hang out. (this was on msn). He took ages in replying, and then just said he had to go, and would speak later. Later on the same day, he rang me asking if i wanted to go with him and the same two mutual friends we'd spent the other evening with, for a picnic. We went, and then he suggested we go off for a walk on our own. During the walk he made a lot of references (indirectly) to comments made by one of our mutual friends. He kept making remarks about the hand holding, and saying things like 'no kissing' and so. But nothing direct - just about how annoying he was, and so on. Later that same evening, we ended up on the sea front, walking very close, and he deliberately reached for my hand. We continued holding hands for a while, but nothing more, and not for very long.

Our mutual friends have said to me that i have to say something. One of them also pointed out that he's incredibly shy around girls and that he'd never make the first move - he's never had a girlfriend.

Thing is, i'm really shy about it all as well.

So my dilema is this; what do I do?

I don't know if he likes me or if he's just being friendly. In addition, we both have exams for the next week or so, and then we go home for the summer - 3 months- the week after exams finnish. So it almost seems as if there is no point saying/doing anything.

My friend said that if he mentions the comments, in any way i should say something about my feelings for him.

But i wouldn't know what to say/how to say it. And, I'm not sure if theres any point, because nothing can happen until these exams are out of the way, and afterwards, there's hardly anytime until we go home (we live about 300 miles away from one another).

Plus, i'm really liking gettting to know him.

I just don't know what to do - I feel like i'm twelve! lol! Especially when he held my hand - it was nice!

Sorry about the length of this - i just hope someone can help. Any help would be appriciated.

Thank you!

He likes you.

Say to him in your best English accent, "Allo luv, I quite like you. Howzabout a smooch then?" and kiss him.

It'd work on me!

Yeah, I'd agree that he appears to be interested.

If both of you are shy, someone is going to have to admit to their feelings with the hope that the other feels the same. If they aren't returned, at least you find out sooner rather than later, when the attachment will grow.

In the very least, asking for a kiss sounds like a good idea. Cheesy voice or not. ;)

Lol! Thanks for the replies!

Its just difficult because I do want something to happen, but I have to wait for a week or so. However he finishes his exams earlier than me, and is going out to celebrate at the end of this week. Hopefully I will be going out that night as well, so that may well be a good time to do/say something!

I just don't know what to say! Asking for a kiss seems a bit forward, but then again after a few drinks, it might be ok! lol! I guess I reluctuntly realise that i'm going to have to say or do something, the problem is how and what.

Thanks again for the replies though!

Another option is to give him a kiss on the cheek next time you hug to say goodbye. It's a small step, but it's a step.

Hey, thanks again for the advice, well i suppose this is a bit of an update, so to speak.

Exams are over, so i no longer have them to hide behind as it were, to avoid saying something. But i'm going round to his to have a 'movie night' later on in the week. Its just the two of us, everyone else is going out clubbing to celebrate end of exams - we have no money! And its not really my thing, not a fan of the club they're going to.

So i'm hoping it will be good fun, but at what point during the evening do i say something?

Or do i just see if something happens rather than saying something?

Oh dear - i really am so inexperienced at all of this!
