wain Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I am not in an LDR. I am in a Long Distance Friendship. With lots of cybering involved. The contact has been getting very rare over the last year. I have offered that "we have hit our peak a long time ago and are now just sentimental about one another"...I offered a clean, clear way for him to bow our for good. But he did not take it. He said he was "busy" "miss you so much" "we have a deep bond, we will have that in 10 years still". 2 days ago i wrote that the contact is getting too little. that we will lose one another. that we have to talk, about whatever or whoever, at least a few times a week... that i miss him. No reply yet. its been 2 days. I know he has been in. If he likes writing to me and knowing me...why doesnt he???? i have no idea what this means. please help me.

Because it is just a friendship and it may threaten a real relationship by staying in contact would be my guess. However he doesn't want to come out and cut you off because in the back of his mind one day he can sneak away, or the relationship might end, and he has you there waiting to play.

That's a great guess - it makes a lot of sense. There doesn't seem to be much of a bright side to this one. It sucks not to be treated with respect. Like you say, your friendship has become something of a "chore" to him.
Onelife Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 IMO, I would prefer a "no reply" better than an answer that comes out just because it's the right thing to do (or a chore). But sooner or later you both will have to talk it out about what to with the RL.
