Tony T Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Yep, researchers are saying that people who suffered from bouts of depression prior to getting married were much better off when they tied the knot. Don't believe me? Go here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19032614/
pelagicsands Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 It could be that marriage provides the companionship and emotional support needed to help alleviate depression, she said.Notice they didn't mention love. Next time, try a dog.
lonelybird Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Two miserable can NOT make a happy marriage. Before marriage they have to be happy by their own. they must be wholeness before marriage. not after. People who are miserable think coupling can make them happy, FALSE. It only produce codependency and twist.

I don't really know how many happy marriages there are. I think a lot of depression results from not having people around.

It's like saying that money, love, friends, and good health won't make you happy unless you're already happy as poor, unloved, lonely, and sick.

I tend to agree with this, marriage is not some fairy tale, you have daily life challenges that you have to overcome. To remain in a state of total bliss and happiness twenty four seven is unrealistic. I also think that is why they benefit from marriage even though in the article it says they have worse marital quality because they are not alone. I think this is a big problem in todays society, everyone is so busy and caught up in their own little worlds that there is a disconnect with each other and that is why forums like LS help.
