AndySA Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Okay, I'll start: if I meet an absoletely beautiful girl, drop-dead gorgeous in every way, but if I come to find out that she is a frequent church-goer, this absolutely turns me off and I don't really see her in a sexual way anymore. Does anyone else find this strange? Does anyone else here have a peculiar turn-off (or turn-on, for that matter) when sizing up a potential mate?
Tony T Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I have a lot of respect for people who go to church. But if they start telling you what a sinner you are and what is acceptable and not acceptable to do, think, see, etc. after you get into a relationship with them then you are in for big trouble. Also, if you like to sleep in on Sunday mornings and she insists you go to church, you either have to agree on going to services at other times or suck it up. Drop dead gorgeous females are extremely dangerous because many men tend to overlook obvious danger signs due to preoccupation with trying to get into her pants. For me, the biggest turn off is bad breath. After that, it would be dating a girl who decides after a time she prefers females...or even worse, she wants to get a sex change operation.
quankanne Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 biggest turn-off? so-called "friends" of my husband who think it's okay to invade my private space by hugging and kissing on me ... eewww. Not polite at all!
LucreziaBorgia Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 A few things: Racist (I am a 'mixed' person and 'n-word' jokes won't cut it with me) Sexist/Mysoginist or rabidly Anti-gay Prosetylizing (no, I don't need to be 'saved' thank you particularly not by someone I'm sleeping with) Chronic bad breath/hygene (I know, its shallow but if I have to hold my breath to talk to someone I'm not likely to date them either) Hates children (I'm a mother, and the 'I hate kids' is a dealbreaker) Overdoing it with the ideals (too political, too vegan, too religious, too anarchist, etc.)
alphamale Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Okay, I'll start: if I meet an absoletely beautiful girl, drop-dead gorgeous in every way, but if I come to find out that she is a frequent church-goer, this absolutely turns me off and I don't really see her in a sexual way anymore. why? the girls in church have the loosest morals. why do you think they are there?
Lizzie60 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Turn-offs: If a guy goes to church 'religiously' every Sunday, it is definitely a turn-off. I don't practise any religion. If the guy has a farm.. unless he's a gentleman farmer. Bad breath..but that's not unusual. If the guy has an old 'rusted' car or if he drives a corvette or any of those 'cocky-macho' sports car. If the guy is on welfare or is unemployed..or if he's got a minimum-wage job. If the guy is in his 40s and still lives with 'ma and pa'... eewwww I know I will sound shallow...but I can't help it. Turn - ons: A guy with an amazing sense of humour (oohhh I love that) The guy is a professional (work, sports, etc.) He is well-off and drives a Jaguar or Mercedes... (money makes someone so-so looks much better...LOL) Nice straight white teeth. Well-dressed, well groomed. A good cook (I hate cooking). Who never looks at other women when you're with him.
lindya Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Turn offs 1. Misogyny and racism make me think "ugly to the bone". Both seem to go together quite frequently, though for some reason it's more socially acceptable for a guy to express his misogyny. 2. Obviously bad hygiene. Or even if hygiene's good, if a guy's natural smell repels me then that's not going to work very well. I think nature sorts us out in these matters. 3. Pretentiousness and effeminate mannerisms. The latter are fine in a gay male friend, but I just don't want to see any of that in the bedroom. In a sexual context it makes something in me curl up and die. Turn ons 1. Directness and honesty 2. Slight shyness on eye contact 3. A mischievous, cute grin that says "let's have some fun together". 4. Some clear signs of protectiveness. Not overt and full of machismo, but enough to say he's a mature man who cares about the welfare of the woman he's with.
polywog Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Turn offs: Any guy who voted for George W. Bush, especially if he still thinks he's right (so to speak, pun intended). Homophobic men. Vegans. Especially if they wear leather shoes and accessories. Men who don't love animals. Men who have big unresolved issues with their mother. Men who take themselves too seriously, which leads to: Men with no sense of humor. Add everything LB posted above, besides the ones I included here, and that's it. Though I might think of more.

I gots to hand it to you alpha, women who are on your list sould probably not qualify as my female friends, either thats nothin' sister, i'm just a gittin' started... near the bottom it should be can't make good brownies.
johan Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I'd revise Alpha's list by adding "Discolored teeth". The women I date smile a lot. So their teeth better be nice to see. I'll seriously stop doing things to make them smile if their teeth embarrass me.
polywog Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 OK, alpha's list gave me more ideas for yet more turn offs: Men who nag me (my exH was the worst). Men who want to spend too much time with me and get upset by the amount of time I like to spend alone. Men who take me for granted (given that I am not too demanding of attention). Cheapskates, including bad tippers and guys who haggle too much. Wimpy doormat type guys. Men who listen to Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, and (Sir) Andrew Lloyd Webber. Men who are rude to salespeople and waitstaff. Men with low sex drive and no imagination in that realm. Men who don't want to understand how their car works and get ripped off by mechanics as a result (I am a motorhead, so I can't tolerate this). Racists and xenophobes. I know I'll think of more.

polywog Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I dunno alpha, that list is getting stricter and stricter!
alphamale Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I dunno alpha, that list is getting stricter and stricter! part III will be tomorrow, stay tuned
polywog Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 part III will be tomorrow, stay tuned Well, given that you have pooped in your own bed, you are seriously limiting your choices!!
IpAncA Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 part III will be tomorrow, stay tuned Geez la we. Now do you have any turn on's or is that impossible?
polywog Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Geez la we. Now do you have any turn on's or is that impossible? I think he does.... women who poop in the bed!
Starry-eyed Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 One of my biggest turn offs, and a deal-breaker, is a guy who smacks his food or chews with his mouth open. I CANNOT STAND THAT! I have an aversion to hearing people chew anyway, but if a guy can't keep his lips closed while doing it, ewww, gross, and it's over. I just can't live with it.
Woggle Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Some of my turn offs. Women that hate men or think that men deserve to be mistreated as payback for women being oppressed Women who are materialistic and think that status symbols are what is most important Racists Women that never take any accounability for their actions Women that try to cut me off from my friends Women who look down on me because I come from a poor background Women who base their lives on Sex and the city episodes Women who feel the need to shout about how independent they are Women that divorced their exes for trivial reasons Women that purposely have no father for their children or keep the father from seeing them without good reason There is more but that is all I can think of right now.
directx Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Whats wrong with banging a church goer? Makes it all the more erotic. Its like really accomplishing something the dirtier you get with her... Turn offs: snobbery bullying bad hygeine unjustified bitchiness hinting at what she wants instead of telling Turn ons: getting angry wears tight sweats aggressive, uninhabited, and selfish in the sack round butt smells good If the list is any longer, no one would want to read it.
marlena Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 To Alpha Male, How do you know that YOUR breath doesn't stink? And please don't give me that inhaling into your palm trick? Or that your body doesn't permeate an odorous smell? In some cultures "bad" body smells like sweat and garlic are a tremendous turn on!!! Seriously now, how does one know if one's breath is the culprit? Garlic? What about alcohol? Belching? Not to mention vomiting? Or a bad digestive system? Or maybe simple "filthy" language? Some men I know hate perfumes (even when sparesly used) and prefer pure, unadutlerated, natural ( the forest primeval kind of thing), totally beastly smells? What's your take on this one? Must know!
