flyingspaghetti Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 This is more for anyone who has dated a European. Has anyone ever dated a European person? If so, how was your experience. How different/similar did you find they were compared to North Americans? How did it work out? I was asked out by a French guy who had just moved in my city nearly two months ago. I went by his French customs of kissing both sides of his cheek when I first met him and right before leaving. I find that he is shy, soft spoken, sweet, and very nice. He asked if I would like to see him again, and I said, "Yes." We are meeting up for our second date next weekend at a mall. So, share your European dating stories.
johan Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I've dated a Russian. I've known several Russians. A friend of mine has dated Slovenians and is now dating a Polish woman, long distance. I also dated a Bangladeshi. In my experience, fundamentally women are women.

I never dated but had many flings, one was Russian living in New York... 2 years ago... we had an intense love-making while I was in Dominican Republic... then I had a fling with a Cuban (again while on vacation); one fling again last January with a Latino who was adopted by a Finland couple...he was raised in Finland...one German once... one Belgian... one Lebanese (still am involved with him)... one African -American (lasted for over a year) (in fact a few African-American), one Jamaican (dated for 6 months then his wife caught us); one East Indian (also lasted for over a year), I'm probably forgetting some...LOL They all have their own 'flavour' so to speak.. all different but all sooo nice.

allina Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 You mean someone very newly from Europe? I'm European though I came here when I was 9, it never had an impact on my relationships. However I've heard people say that European women are more dignified when it comes to dating.
Author flyingspaghetti Posted May 30, 2007 Author Posted May 30, 2007 Thanks for your input, everyone! I am now humiliated because of a misunderstanding. When he asked me out to a date, he did not mean a romantic first date. He meant an appointment to just hang out and get to know each other. From his writing and questions he has asked, I misinterpreted him as wanting to date me. Then, he asked me if I would like to "see him again." In our culture, I took that as wanting to see him again out on a date. He did not mean that. Gosh, this is humiliating. I created a thread about this entitled "What Would You Do (Feeling Humiliated)" to read more details. I need some insight....
