fordmustangman Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Ok well i finally broke it off, its only been a little over a week now, but im doing really well, been busy and around friends. i can't do the NC cause we work at the same place but only see eachother or have to talk a couple times a day. were still going to be friends though, not hang out or anything but be able to be adults, im actually about over her. we were together for 3 years but should have done this a year ago when it went bad. either way what im wondering is how long do you have to wait to get with another girl? i met a girl that wants to go out to dinner tonight, i was thinking about going out of town so know why the ex can even find out. (not that its any of her business anymore but i don't want to rub anything in her face) would it be wrong of me to accept the offer?

There is no 'standard' time after a break-up...in your case, since you're over her (are you sure about this?) then you don't owe her any explanations or permissions...so if you feel like going ...just go... simple.
dazz187s Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 wow, i was wondering the same thing but was unsure how to explain it but yes, i too wondered that. A 5 year relationship ended last week and as of yesterdays i had 4 womans numbers to call and go out. i did one this past wed and i felt weird about it, guess i wasn't into her, so nothing happened with that one. went to see the other girl for a up of coffee and just the though of meeting this one was killing my a lot. my cheat felt compressed and felt like i was going out with her for the wrong reasons, to move on. i did it anyways and date ended in within 15 mins. i closed up and what not. and yes, i have been avoiding to take these or any dates near her area, why? i don't even know. but understand you are not alone and those questions stood out for me too. if your over her, I'm very happy for you mate, but in my case, i think i should stay single for a while, no point of wasting their time.
Author fordmustangman Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 well im not looking for a relationship lol thats the farthest, i just think it would be nice to go have dinner, actually if i go and have dinner as a friend with this girl and just hang out for a few, how am i doing anything wrong? about being over her, yes, i know it seems quick but i just feel like a huge weight off my back now, its like a free and happy, i still care for her but no way would i ever go back into a relationship with her ever.
JaneInVegas Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 i can't do the NC cause we work at the same place but only see eachother or have to talk a couple times a day./QUOTE] heh ... you broke the rule of "Never Ever Date a Co-worker" Don't feel bad, I learned the hard way. I started dating one of my co-workers, and all my friends and co-workers capped on me and told me how dumb I was being. After we got married I smiled sweetly at them and said "I told you so!" After the divorce we were both tortured with each other's presence until finally he was the one that relented and found another job. Looking back, I wish I'd done EVERYthing about that one differently. Well, at least you won't make that mistake again.
2ndIINone Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 either way what im wondering is how long do you have to wait to get with another girl? I believe it's 30 minutes after you eat. Oh wait.. that the swimming on a full stomach rule.... Hmmm.... I suppose you are free to date anyone, anytime you want....some date while dating others... some even date while married. Some date the same sex.... some date people half their age..... At least you did the right thing... and broke up first. It's only dinner... hungry? Go eat.
