Freedom Now Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 If you have been raised in an ultra violent and dysfuctional home, do you suffer long term effects with intimacy issues as an adult? I know someone who had an ultra dysfunctional childhood who sabotages relationships when things get too close. He shuts the object of his affection down completely. Is this typical? He is in therapy and takes meds to regulate depression so he is trying to get a grasp on things...which is good. Is there any hope for him? And how does one break through to him, if that is possible?
