amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I believe I do live in my own little world. I have always felt this way. Don't get me wrong...I know there is a great big world outside of my little world. A great big world that I'm certainly a part of yet I am just in a little world of my own inside this bigger world. Okay so does anyone else feel like this too? And if you do feel this way, have you felt that you and another were together in a world of your own? Just the two of you? If so, whom? What's it all mean?
alphamale Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 What's it all mean? I really at a loss to say AMAYSNGRACE....philosophers have been attempting to answer this question for thousands years with little success.
Woggle Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I feel that W and I are in our own world sometimes. What other person in the world actually likes to drive around just to take pictures of different buildings. We are both weirdos and sometimes are oblivious to the world around us.
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 philosophers have been attempting to answer this question for thousands years with little success. I don't mean "what's the meaning of life?" That would be too obscure and strictly subjective. Everybody lives a different life. And finds different meaning to their own respectively. I'm asking what does it mean when you feel like you're in a little world with someone else?
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 I feel that W and I are in our own world sometimes. We are both weirdos and sometimes are oblivious to the world around us. Have you ever felt as though you were in your own little world, just you, before you met her?
Woggle Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Have you ever felt as though you were in your own little world, just you, before you met her? In a way yes. I am a very unique individual so sometimes I do get caught up in my own little world.
socialight Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 there are a whole lot of worlds outside of your world. could be charity work for kids, raving nightclubs until 6 a.m., fat cat country clubs, congress, etc. No person can experience everything in this world. But you have to make efforts to step outside of your own world to avoid the feeling you are talking about.
alphamale Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I'm asking what does it mean when you feel like you're in a little world with someone else? oh sorry....to me it means i'm getting too close to that person and may need to take a few steps back.
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 I am a very unique individual so sometimes I do get caught up in my own little world. Is it really so unique to feel like this or fairly common? I'm not just asking you Woggle but others as well. I guess I'd like to know if others feel like they live in their own little world too? I can understand why you or I would knowing our histories, but I wonder if those with relatively uneventful childhoods would feel like this too, ya know?
burning 4 revenge Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 oh sorry....to me it means i'm getting too close to that person and may need to take a few steps back.i agree one hundred and one percent. im feeling like ive gotten too close to some people and now im reaping the pain of it. but ls is like our own little world for some of us. it think its unhealthy to a degree.
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 oh sorry....to me it means i'm getting too close to that person and may need to take a few steps back. Well that just ain't gonna happen. Tried it and didn't like it much. I'm moving closer if I'm moving anywhere.
Trialbyfire Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I've only started to surface from my own little world in the last couple of months or so. Previous to D-day my focus was outwards, looking for new experiences and knowledge.

Previous to D-day my focus was outwards, looking for new experiences and knowledge. Huh? You were in your own little world but now you're not? Or you are just getting into your own little world? I'm not understanding.
Trialbyfire Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Huh? You were in your own little world but now you're not? Or you are just getting into your own little world? I'm not understanding. That was pretty vague wasn't it? Most of my life has been focused outwards. The focus changed to inwards when I caught my ex cheating last year, and have only started to focus outwards again in the last month or two.

Trialbyfire Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Dont pay attention to TBF. Shes in her own little world. I wasn't, then I was, now I'm sorta'....so...there...
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 Dont pay attention to TBF. Shes in her own little world. You make me laugh. I know what you mean about LS being in a little world. It's an escape from the outside world. Yet it's here to help others find the answers for themselves. So what's it mean?
Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 This thread makes me cry. Why does it make you cry?
hope1975 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I definately live in my own little world the trouble is sometimes you get dragged kicking & screaming back into reality But I like my little world..it makes me happy!!!
Storyrider Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 Why does it make you cry? Because in a way I've always escaped into my own little fantasy world, sometimes alone, sometimes with someone else. And right now I'm feeling very alone. And yes, I have a husband and children who love me, three square meals a day, two cars in the garage. Clothes in my closet. Friends. The sun is shining; the birds are singing. Everything is just perfect, and I'm a fool not to feel as grateful as hell. Eh, whatever. Don't take me too seriously. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Everyone just go about their business.
halfarock Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I often live in my own little world, perhaps just a coping mechanism that I developed growing up – it’s happier here. It’s an emotional thing, the way I view the world (society) and separate myself from it. My mom: I think my son has a hearing problem. Doctor: No he doesn’t, he’s just ignoring you. Yet I live a life that regularly requires that I be very public and stand in the spotlight which is cool and everything but it wears me down after awhile which makes my own little world necessary, I suppose, for my sanity’s sake. There have been a few women with whom I have carried on relationships with who had their own little worlds, who easily made their way into mine as I did into theirs – our own little escape from reality.

Author amaysngrace Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 well SR being "alone" is really a state of mind. it don't matter who or what is around or isn't around. Yeah you can be in a crowded room and still feel alone. For me it is more of a safe feeling rather than a lonely one. Thank you Storyrider and halfarock for your input and your honesty. I wonder if we all have this within us to be in our own little world? And maybe some people are so busy that when things quiet down they are too busy planning their next event that they never get to feel this way? Or maybe some people never feel this way because they have no need to escape the real world into the one of their own?
alphamale Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I wonder if we all have this within us to be in our own little world? well since everyone's "world" is in their brain I guess deep down we're all by ourselves. until we can learn to inter-link brains i guess
