Touche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Nope. Men are less superficial. Nope. They're more superficial. Date men for awhile and you'll see that I'm right...oh, wait, you HAVE dated some men, right? Then you should know that I'm right.
nicki Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 About the brunette thing, I agree that a lot of guys do have a "type." (not all, though.) I've had several guys tell me that they have "good luck" with brunettes and prefer them over blondes. (I'm brunette so he was probably just saying it.) But, I did have one guy tell me that he only dates women with my body build and coloring. Go figure. I felt like one in a long string of clones. I prefer dark hair/brown eyed guys built like young Italian mobsters, but I find myself attracted to many other kinds of men. Just depends on what comes out of their mouths and how they treat people. Intelligence can trump looks any day, as long as there is some kind of physical attraction.

Touche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 What? Are you trying to make me look gay? No, I've never dated, nor had any romantic encounters with any guy, ever. No romantic encounters ever? Oh, ok. I guess it depends how you define "romantic encounters." Maybe I got you confused with someone else though. So sorry. Oh and...men are still just as superficial as women.
SadandConfusedWA Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 You can change what you look like though. I have been both, curvy blonde and skinny brunette and am curently something in between (curvy and skinny) and with brown hair. I love fashion and find changing the way I look fun.
Teddy and Jane Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 There have been studies done and men ALWAYS rate looks in a relationship as very important, whereas women place looks as much lower. It's simply a fact that women place less importance on looks with a man that a woman does. She really goes for the personality and how the man treats her.
nicki Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 It's just a theory, but I think a lot of men would keep a hot gorgeous, but stupid woman around a lot longer than most women would keep a hot dumb guy around. Intelligence makes a guy hot! Stupidity makes a hot guy ugly. I just can't do it.

Intelligence and sense of humor (personality) would NEVER trump looks for a man. They're superficial that way.

nicki Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Thanks, Touche So, true story: I went to a wedding and asked the groom what made him love his bride so much that he wanted to marry her. He said, "I never thought I could get a woman that hot." That was it. Nothing about her character or anything else. I was shocked! It's like a woman saying "Yeah, I married him because he has a huge penis. That's the only reason."
nicki Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Wait, change that to something HE could lose, as in "I only married him for his money."
Touche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Hey, Nicki great examples. I mean really...ask 100 women what they love about their guy and the first thing on their list won't be "he's so hot." But ask a 100 men the same question and I know you'd get more guys commenting on the superficial things first. I know it. So I wanted to put to rest this idiotic idea that women are more superficial once and for all. And I might actually go a step further to prove it...stay tuned.

That just does me in. And a woman's eyes can sparkle when she smiles even if she doesn't have the perfect body.
tanbark813 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Men may have stricter weight requirements but women have stricter height requirements. And, if anything, height requirements are more superficial because, unlike weight, height can't be changed.
mental_traveller Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I'm of the Sir Mixalot school of thought when it comes to a woman's figure - curvy is good, a phat ass is better, and big boobs are the icing on top.

And a woman's eyes can sparkle when she smiles even if she doesn't have the perfect body. Bullshyt! If the woman is completely not your type (and I'm sure you do have a type) then I don't care if her eyes sparkled brighter than a thousand suns, you'd run the other way and find a woman who is your type and whose eyes also light up when she smiles.
Touche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Men may have stricter weight requirements but women have stricter height requirements. And, if anything, height requirements are more superficial because, unlike weight, height can't be changed. Not true. Let me explain how it works. I too, have always had that height requirement that you speak of. But I can't tell you how many times I had serious relationships with guys who didn't even come close to meeting that requirement. That's how much they charmed me. Women are much more apt to give a guy, who is outside of her preferred type, a chance than guys are. A guy wouldn't even give you the time of day if you're not his type physically.

Teddy and Jane Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Women don't have requirements. They are willing to overlook or not even see height if there is something else to the guy. Men, on the other hand, will rule a woman out instantly if the look isn't there for them, despite other attractive qualities in the woman. Just look at the comments of men on LS about women's looks, there are so many ragging on women's looks such as the other day a guy said Rachel Ray had a funny looking body, the Justine Bateman comment by another guy, the big with small boobs comment, I often read the comment from men on here "if she goes pear-shaped," another poster described a guy's blind date with a beautiful, tall, intelligent curvy woman as a "blind date gone bad." and another male poster asked if she had "man hands" etc. etc. etc. You just don't read the females on here really bashing mens' looks and bodies that way.
tanbark813 Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Women don't have requirements. Oh man, that was good. I needed that. You obviously have never tried picking up women in bars.

Actually, just for the sake of accuracy, several of the posters you're referring to are women. The blind date gone bad and the man hands comments were both by women.
alphamale Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Do men really want pencil thin women? or do they like a women with curves? I know it obviously depends on the individual, but what's "too big" & what's "too small" any opinions? Just curious its all good when it comes to chicks H1975.....I like mine with a bit 'o meat on them. I've dated women who were size 2 and women who were 30 lbs heavy and everything in between.....they were all beautiful and sexy in their own way. My preference would be a woman who is the ideal weight plus about 10-15lbs.
Touche Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 You're only one person. I knew you were going to say that. But I'm not so unique. I think most women (if I may speak for most women for a minute) are like me.
