joe350z Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 personally i like a range, but i definitely do not like women with a big sloppy stomach, an a$$ that's wayyy too big or legs that are wayyy too big. those are huge turn-offs. if she has a little bit of a tummy but also has curves that's fine. if she has a tummy but no curves, well then she could be a man. it's important to note that curves does not mean the same thing as obese. many women forget this.
joe350z Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 It's very sad to hear, but feels to be so true. However, there are guys out there who do not put so much thought into a girls body. I appreciate my boyfriend greatly because he absolutely loves my body no matter what. I have cellulite under my butt cheeks, so what. My generous size boobs arent as perky, so what. Im getting softer around the middle, so what! He has loved me through all the changes. In fact for a while I was sick and didnt know it and lost 15 pounds. He was very concerned and sat me down one day and told me that he loved me but that I needed to gain weight because I looked terrible. That is a real man right there. i believe that a woman's physical appearance is going to be the major factor for determining level of attraction in most men. this is not to say there is a single archetype that is attractive to all men. rather, it is to say that what turns men on initially, mostly, is physical appearance BUT there is room in that for variation. a man might see a women who is very curvy and voluptuous then a while later see a woman who is very thin and be equally attracted to both. i believe there is a biological basis to this.
Author hope1975 Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 ok what happens if you met a girl and she was really big...you became friends & then she lost heaps of weight & looked great, would you want to date her? would you ask her out or would you still see her as the girl she was when you first met?
loveratud Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 By my reckoning, in order for a woman to weigh 150lbs, she would need to be about 6'4". I've dated a few girls that were over 6' (hard to find 'em) and none of them were over 130lbs. Basically no woman has any business weighing over 150lbs. And people who try to rationalize it away as "natural" are only making matters worse. This country used to have a strong sense of shame, and insecurity. I've gone to the gym every day for the last 2 years, I'm 6'2" and 185lbs, and I still worry about how I look. Insecurity is what makes us strive to be better. "I'm perfect the way I am" is why we have obese 12 year olds packing elementary schools. Maybe I'm just mad at the fat people because they're happier than me.
LucreziaBorgia Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I've dated a few girls that were over 6' (hard to find 'em) and none of them were over 130lbs. That gives them a BMI of roughly 15, making the status of the body 'severe starvation'. I guess that is pretty much the price to pay for being that thin. I don't think I would like to be skating that close to death just to look "good".

I've dated a few girls that were over 6' (hard to find 'em) and none of them were over 130lbs. I dated a girl who was 5'11" / 150lbs and had a great body. I'm guessing 20 or so of those lbs were in her D cups. :bunny:

green-eyed beauty Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 According to the BMI charts, I could weigh up to 160 and still be in a healthy BMI range. I am 5'7 1/2 inches. Now...if I did weigh that much, I would have some "junk in the trunk". As it is, I weigh 133 and people often comment at how thin I am, some even saying I should gain a few pounds. I have read that the "ideal" weight for a woman is for every inch after 5 foot, 5 pounds for every inch. So...according to that, I should weigh about 137. don't know how much truth there is to this, but I feel I look my best in the 133 to 138 weight range. However guys who want more curves wouldn't be as attracted to me. Guys who wanted a woman who looked like she was a Halocaust death camp survivor wouldn't be as attracted to me, either.

A bmi of 15 wouldn't look just really thin, it would be very very ill, she would have a hard time with daily life. So either he's trying to get a reaction out of people or the women lied to him about their weight.
sb129 Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 I'm not even sure a person with a BMI of 15 would be able to stand up! I have a BMI of 22, but when I first graduated, i was 152 lbs (lived the high life! lotsa of drinking and eating out!!), and my BMI was 23.9, which is still healthy. And i still had no trouble getting guys. Last year I lost alot of weight, went down to 130 and looked sick. Iam back up to about 140, and I am 171cm tall. I really like my body right now, I look after it without being obsessive, and I think I have good curves, good muscle tone, and am really happy. My BF thinks I am hot too, so to the arrogant guy who likes stick insects.
Author hope1975 Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 I think people carry there weight differently too, I am about 15lbs heavier then my sister, yet we look the same size & fit into the same sized clothes...she has a very delicate frame and if she puts on 3 lbs it's noticable, whereas I'm more toned and can put on 10lbs before it starts to really show. although I do have bigger boobs so maybe that's where I carry the extra weight I think the BMI is a rough guide, but I don't think it's 100% accurate in measuring what someone should weigh....as I said, people carry their weight differently.
StartingOver07 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 BMI is a really awful tool for anyone who is carrying muscle, as muscle is much denser than fat so you can have a high BMI and look quite slim. A far better measure than BMI is bodyfat percentage. This gives you an idea of a person's fitness rather than just weight.
Author hope1975 Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 how do you measure body fat percentage? anyone know?
StartingOver07 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 how do you measure body fat percentage? anyone know? Hydostatic weighing is one method. If you live near a large univeristy, they sometimes have this. Alternately, you can pick up calipers fairly inexpensively. Last, there are scales that meausre it but they are horribly inaccurate and best for trending purposes.
sb129 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I have got some of those scales. The bodyfat percentage IS a great way to do it, but my scales are quite inaccurate I think. However, the % reading they DO give hasn't fluctuated much over the last year, if anything it has gone down, so at least I know that much. I agree that different people carry their weight differently, and I don't think that BMI is the best indicator, as muscle is more dense than fat, however I was just using it to demonstrate a) really underweight BMI and b) the range in my own, even though i was still within healthy range. I think my BEST marker for my weight/ body etc is how my jeans fit, and also if you are trying to "lose weight" and I use the term "loosely", then keeping track of your measurements (waist, hips bust etc) is really useful. When my favourite "skinny" jeans start to feel a little tight, I tighten up on my diet and exercise until they are comfortable again.
Author hope1975 Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 does anyone have any good weight loss tips?
allina Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 does anyone have any good weight loss tips? Awww, is this thread making you want to lose weight?
LoveLace Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I dated a girl who was 5'11" / 150lbs and had a great body. I'm guessing 20 or so of those lbs were in her D cups. :bunny: Girls over 6' that weigh less than 130lbs? Hello eating disorders. I am 5'6 and weight 150lbs, but everyone says I look 130lbs, and I work out, I"m not rail thin but I have a very nicely curvy shaped body and a flat stomach. I am not even top-heavy, just medium. Some people actually consider me "small"...so I can't imagine a women that much taller than me with the same weight...however muscle vs. fat makes a difference, leading us to see weight as just a number, really.
LoveLace Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 how do you measure body fat percentage? anyone know? Skinfold calipers are a good way, which I think few facilities use anymore. There is an electronic device that measures body fat, which I've seen most fitness facilities use- but they've always been considered inaccurate. The absolute most accurate way is the hydrostatic way, you have to let all air out of your lungs and then be submerged into water for a few seconds...the person performing this only has a second or two to read the scale, because it's hard not to breath while your down there! Hope, the best weight loss method is the same as it has always been (in my opinion)- exercise and sensible diet. When I say sensible diet, I mean no fast-food, soda, or candy...but a piece of cake every once in a while is ok...just try to eat low-calories and low-fat. Limiting carbohydrates can be quite effective...but I don't believe in making it a diet all by itself. It's too difficult to make the low-carb diet a lifetime committment. So if you stop the diet - it doesn't take much to gain all weight back that you lost.
Pink Amulet Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Awww, is this thread making you want to lose weight? :lmao: Haha, I don't know why, but that made me laugh! Hope1975, diet and exercise is the only sure fire way Just eat less, and exercise more and you will lose weight.
Author hope1975 Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 Awww, is this thread making you want to lose weight? lol...yeah I wanna lose weight now bit worried about my body fat percentage...those caliper things scare me!!!
Prise Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Admittedly, I haven't read the prior 19 pages. The answer would be "thin AND curvy," non?
Author hope1975 Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 huh? i'm not sure i understand...Thin & curvy?
LucreziaBorgia Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I expect it means something along the lines of Nicole Richie, but with a rack and round butt.
Prise Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 huh? i'm not sure i understand...Thin & curvy? Ah, a picture is worth a 1,000 words. Here's a name from the past, who personifies "thin and curvy." In my view, Madchen Amick has the perfect physique.
