justice Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I was reading Salicious Crumb's posting and it made me laugh. Why? Because just this morning as I was having breakfast in a local cafe, who should walk in but my ex husband dearest and some of his cronies from work. I wasn't alone, no, it wasn't a date either, it was a friend of mine, one who just happens to be tall and blonde and very handsome that I've known since way back when. I looked my best too, just got done at the salon and wasn't wearing jeans like I used to when we were married. I had on makeup and was dressed nicely, like I used to back in the day before I married him. My friend knows what my ex did to me, saw him coming in before I did and grabbed my hand as I looked at him confused until I saw his warning glance toward the entry of the cafe and saw my ex, looking like heck warmed over, dirty, wrinkled clothes, like he didn't have a cent to his name. We really played it up and it was well worth it when my ex frowned and glared at us as he sat down at a booth. My friend proceeded to feed me little bites of food here and there, and I was giggling like crazy. My ex didn't find that so amusing at all. His tough luck, he is the one who screwed around on me not the other way around. I overheard one of my ex's buddy's asking him if that wasn't his ex wife with the blonde guy, my ex responded that it was and his friend told him that I sure was looking hot. We got up to leave after a bit more of the "pretend romantic breakfast" and walked right past the ex, my friend had his arm around my waist and made a big show of leaving a huge tip and of paying for breakfast, saying a tad bit loudly "After last night, you deserve a great breakfast" The harmless fun we had was like music for my soul. My ex called me later on today but I didn't answer the call. I did however call my friend and let him know that my ex had called me and that I didn't answer and we had a good laugh over that too. My friend says maybe he should record a message on my home number and my cell phone for the next time the ex calls.... hehehehe.
Trialbyfire Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Wow, love your story. Hang on to that friend of yours. What a great guy he is to help make your day.
Enema Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Good on you, that sure would be a lot of fun. Not sure how that's success if it was all an act
Curmudgeon Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Actually, the best revenge is achieving indifference which means you don't care what your ex thinks about you. It can absolutely extinguish them!
boshemia Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I happen to agree with both... indifference is nice, but there is a certain warm fuzzy feeling in the ability to come out of a bad situation a better person.
4whatItsWorth Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Wow...I wish I could have been like that when I broke up with my ex-ex boyfriend. Good for you, girl!
