mmmm...we had a great dinner. I made marinated chicken breasts made on the bbq and we had caesar salad (out of the bag:rolleyes:) and corn on the cob. A nice and lite meal. Damn i'm good

what is better to marinate or to rub?

well a marinade will give you more tender meat but less flavour. the rub will give you more flavour in the meat but it won't be as soft and juicy. :)

oh well I guess it depends on the mood... sometimes I like tenderness and sometimes I like more flavour

I'm the one who started this thread and I have to say that is pretty easy stuff. I would almost call that more "preparation" than actually cooking. Sorry. Not impressed. Sounds good, though.

So do I. I wandered off for awhile because I had to pop my roast chicken in the oven. It's got my own secret rub on it and yes, I'm expecting male company tonight. We're going to have dinner then...who knows... ;)

mmmm....I have a recipe called "proposal chicken," it's a roast chicken, also. I've made it for myself and it's pretty good, I'll have to try it on the next guy I date.

I could cook circles around you T&J. I have perfected about 15 main dishes over the years, and thats just american food. I can also make around 10 indian dishes. I used to make a carrot cake that would make you orgasm but I haven't made it in a long time. I don't even use recipes to make anything (unless its something new). My lasagna is to die for. And i make the best pot roast....in a pressure cooker. You've probaly never even used a pressure cooker :lmao:

I also can make an entire turkey dinner for 15 people with everything from scratch (oh except the pumpkin pie)

So when are you having a dinner party for us LSers? I bet the crowd would be humongous. I'll make it a point to arrive as early as possible.

Are you suggesting that I'm stripper-ish? That's mean, Alphie!! ;)

Maybe I can call for a stripper, though. So all the male LSers wouldn't get bored after dinner.

Is a girl who doesn't really cook a "dealbreaker" for you in a girlfriend?

I am asking this in all seriousness.

Actually, I do most of the cooking...cuz honestly...she sucks at it!

well SC, a man's gotta eat. And fast food only goes so far

If a guy asked me if I knew how to cook and I got the feeling that he was asking because that is on his list I would probably pretend that I had no clue.

That's exactly what I was going to post. I have always said I don't know how to cook to the point where I started to believe it myself, but whenever I follow a recipe, it comes out really good.

I just think that cooking is one of the biggest wastes of time, right up there with scrubbing the toilet. That's what you hire other people to do. I calculate in my head how much time I would lose in a given week/lifetime if I was scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, and peeling potatoes and I can't get myself to give up that time to something that is meaningless (not saying it's not necessary).

One of my recent ex's wanted me to cook. I acted 100% dumb about it. He gave me a cookbook, told me to go to my sister's to get help (she's a gourmet cook). It really upset me and although I was contemplating taking a cooking class and giving in for the sake of pleasing him, even asking for cooking tips, I ended up sticking to my beliefs. I will voluntarily and spontaneously cook, but I never want to 'flaunt' that as one of my traits so that it is expected of me. That's like knowing how to mowe the lawn (haven't tried it before but I'm sure I can push a lawnmower across the grass) but I'd rather pay someone else to do it.

Or I view cooking as a luxury. If I have a lot of free time, like vacation time, I might choose to devote part of a day to cooking because it can be a creative process with something to enjoy at the end, but usually I'd rather spend that time more productively since it's something another can do whereas work, reading, self growth activities and so on - i.e. living the rest of my life, is something i don't want to give up for the sake of chopping vegetables in the kitchen.

If it's a social thing - cooking with others in the kitchen, I am more than happy to chip in. If it's something I feel like doing out of the blue, whether for myself or for someone else, that's ok too. If it's something demanded of me like a maid or cook, on a regular basis, then I say no thanks. When a guy says he cooks I think that's really cool and a bonus, but if he said he didn't, I wouldn't scratch him off my list. That's what caterers, chefs and restaurants are for.

well F2BM....that mentality is one main reason why many americans are fat as hell.

I am a terrible cook so I hope it isn't too important.

But then again it comes down to whether our combined incomes could allow a full time live-in cook or not :p

alphamale, that is the same ignorant comment democrats make, blaming their OWN faults on someone else, always pointing a finger. I can choose to eat healthy or not healthy. I can choose to overeat or not. I can choose to cook fried bananas and have it with whip cream and ice cream for dinner, or I can have a salad.

I can hire a caterer to serve pasta. If someone stuffs their face, they'll gain weight. If they have some self control, they'll be just fine. I can choose to order a big mac at McDonald's or get a salad. I can go to a restaurant and have the option to order fried chicken, or get the fish of the day, even then I can choose to have it fried or baked.

The reason why americans are fat as hell is because they are heathens who like to eat whatever they want, whenever they want and sit on their asses all day. Don't blame it on restaurants and chefs or eating out! I almost never cook as I wrote, but I am probably in better shape than 99% of americans.

Those girls who were trying to sue McDonalds for their fat asses- thank goodness the courts threw out their case. Their time and money will be better spent in the gym.

I am so with you on that one, F2B. As far as eating when I'm alone, that is, I can put together a meal for friends/dates if I want, maybe not "gourmet" but decent!

As far as eating, I am single and do hit the drivethrough a lot. McD's has a grilled chicken sandwich on wheat with lowfat mayo that I get a lot, BK has one also, though it is on white bread. Often I'll throw out the top bun.

Having a brother in law who's a great chef, I do love gourmet food, however.

I swore off fast food about 6 years ago with the exception of an occasional weekend lunch or vacations.

I'm one of those guys who peels the skin off chicken.

ok i'm going to put some irukandji jellyfish under your pillow

well that may not be the only cause but its a big reason why. like 50 years ago womens used to stay at home and cook good healthy meals and few people were fat. Now everyone eats out most of the time and we can see it in their wastelines. Theres gotta be some correlation there.

a) there wasnt an abundance of quick easy food

b) most people only ate twice a day with no snacks

c) most people did some sort of physical labor

d) most people smoked

OK, Alphamale, yes, it is true to some extent about eating out. But in a lot of households the woman is working by necessity, one income isn't enough! Are you expecting the women to not only bring home the bacon, come home and cook, AND take care of her kids and husband?

Also it's not going to get any better, college graduates are getting paid lower (by today's standard of living) than ever before! Unless a guy has a job like a doctor, lawyer, CEO, or is independently wealthy, the woman is going to have to be working to pay the bills!!! Then add kids to the mix!!! they are expensive, dude!!! We can't go back to the 50's and survive!!!

If you meet a lovely woman and want to marry her, do YOU make enough to support her as she stays home and does the cooking and cleaning? Be honest here!!!

thats cause of the womens lib movement of the 60s and 70s. they wanted to get out of the house and make money and stuff. So basically they took men's jobs and their pay also. So today you have the avg man makeing $40k and the avg woman making $30k. If women weren't in the workforce then the avg man would be making $70k today.

So i blame it one the womens who have diluted the workforce.
