MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Today I pick the kids up from their dad's, as I do every Wed and it's my turn to have them for the weekend. My 10yr old just called me at work to ask if she could have pop. So cute! Most 10 yr olds would just do it without asking. Of course I had to say no, and then she asked if we were going to McD's. I said no but if she eats all her dinner tonight we'll go tomorrow (we have a busy night and not much time to cook). After I hung up, all the events of my past week with my bad-online-dating experience seemed to vanish into thin air. My slow work day is almost done, and I just can't wait to go hug my kids and just hang with them this weeked and get my mind off being alone. I just had to share that with you all
Pyro Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 They are so much cuter when they are well behaved and not screaming and fighting with each other.
EC Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 lol I KIDS. I don't have any but whenever I get the 'urge' i just go to my aunts and play with hers lol ~ The other day i was really bummed and I was over her house and my little cousin is adorable. Im in love with this little guy. He is 8 and looks like a little mini brad pitt. lol So Im there sulking and he rushes into the room with a pillow under his shirt and announces "Look everyone I am PRIVATE!" while rubbing his pillow belly. I have not laughed so hard in a while. I just wanted to eat him! Funnier still was a few days later I'm with my aunt in the car and he was in the back seat with his sister who is 10. I'm telling a story about a friend of mine who is pregnant now but I used the word 'prego' so they wouldn't catch on. Yeah right. His sister asks 'K what does prego mean?' I started to answer when he shouts out 'It means your pregnant DUUH everybody knows that!" OMG :lmao: He is sooooo cute!! I love them
quankanne Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 my niece has a 7yoa daughter and a 6yoa son, and they're a hoot. My sister (their granny) kept them a couple days over spring break, so I got to spend time with them. It's so funny just seeing how differently little boys think than little girls do, too. With my nephew, it's all rough and tumble; with my niece, it's all sweet girly stuff! yeah, little kids are great, and I love being an aunt ...
Author MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 They sure help me keep things in perspective! And they keep me off line and in the real world!! LOL
Trimmer Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Mine are 8 and 10. I love looking in on them when they are asleep. I celebrate and nurture and facilitate their increasing independence as they grow toward adulthood, but while they are asleep, I still indulge myself in a glimpse of them as wee ones, back when they could still be tagged with an ingredient label that says "100% innocence." Then again, now they are much more interesting conversationalists than they were back then... It's all good, even when it's not.
littlekitty Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 That's soooo sweet MWC. Children are getting at helping us keep things in perspective.... :D
Ssheena Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 They most certainly are! Mine are getting so old now (18 and 17) but they are still my babies. As my parents weren't/aren't the best, I do my best to make sure my kids know that I love them. The other night my son (17) came and sat on my bed while he talked to me and wanted me to scratch his back. I love my kids!
alphamale Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I just had to share that with you all that's great! kids are the best...as long as they belong to someone else as for myself, i'm not gonna get any human procreation awards anytime soon
hotgurl Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 my daughter is what kept me sane during my ugly custody bttle and break up w/ my Ex. We were watching Grey's Aantomy last night and it was about Izzy giving up a baby when she was 16. My daughter looked at me and said I am so glad you didn't give me up I have the best mom in the world. she is 11 and I had her when I was 16. She is so sweet and smart.
quankanne Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 kids are the best...as long as they belong to someone else I think most grandparents discover that along the way, lol – though it could be that because there's not the stress of raising them involved, it's so much easier to be with little ones. I see that with my sister and her grandbabies; because she's retired now and has the time to do things, she spends a lot of that time with her grandkids.
Author MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Yeah my parents, every time I am getting irked with my kids, for example trying to get my daughter to eat, they look at me, laugh and say "It's payback time!"
Sundancer Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I love mine too. Even on their "worse" days... They are never bad enough that I don't want to kiss and hug them good night. I guess that's why I'm crazy enough to be having #3 in September. haha
