olimits7 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Hello, I was just wondering when dating, start meeting the family, and learn more about your partner's family does anyone use this information as a barometer to see if this is someone you can spend the rest of your life with?? Me myself I tend to look at a future GF's family before getting too involved in a relationship. I want to make sure her family gets along, both her parents are still together, there isn't really any crazy drama going on with her family, etc... I feel like having a good family foundation is what makes a marriage last if you do end up marrying that person. This is just my opinion, I'm not saying I won't be able to find a great girl that doesn't have a good family foundation but I just think it makes situation more involved than it should be. laRubiaBonita Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 i agree, it is wise to see how family dynamics are. at the same time though, you maybe limiting yourself, because everyone's family is different, and what is totally normal for one family can be totally alien to another. i tend to look at the levels of respect shown... especially to the women in the family- since i am a woman.
