If you ask me it should be posted in all of them... corazoncito Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Happy Birthday Gunny. Maybe this is a little weird since you have no idea who I am, but I am a very new poster to LS. I have read many of your posts and really like them. You give good, supportive advice and I like the Corp "flavor" to them. My dad was in the Corp for about 10 years before he and my mom met, so I don't know that part of his life directly, but he likes to reminisce about those days and speaks about his service with a lot of happiness and pride. Reading your posts helps me to imagine a little bit what he must have been like in those days.

I'm not much for ceromonies, formalities, etc. When I got married, I got married at the court house, kissed her goodbye and went to work. LOL ~ probally explains a lot of why I ended up going through the Big "D" When I retired from the Corps, I didn't have a retirement pararde, but slid out the sidedoor, so to speak, which pissed the CO off because he wanted to pin the Distguished Service Medal on me. CO's like giving out medals ~ and they don't get to give out the DSM too often in the Marines. So to give back, and to put a smile on everyone's face. We were getting ready for an Inspector's Generals inspection ~ which requires as much as a year in advance preparation. So, there's lots of Pre-inspections on top of pre-insepections. My Marines failed my pre-inspection, and I had them out on the grinder, ripping them a new one. Pacing up oneside and back down the other. The whole time going !@#$%^&** on them. "F" this and "F" that! And another "MF" thing! I do a 180 and there's this sweet young thing of a gal there in my face, and she's got a dozen roses? "WTF?" Thinks I. "Are you Gunny376?" she asks? "Yea!" "These are for you!" and she trusts these dozen roses into my chest like I freaking Miss America or something ~ in front of all my battle hardened, Spartian Marines! They're from my then LTR GF? With roses in hand, I treat them like a rifle, go from "port arms" (across the chest) to "shoulder arms" face the platoon and in my best DI voice command: Platoon! Attention! Dismissed" They do the heel to toe, and the 180, break-out of formation dying laughing

Hey... what's this 10% rule... I only deal with 2%.. (the worst 2%) Every else is warm and fuzzy..:bunny:.. until they didn't want to meet me.. and they didn't call ... Oh... I guess that is when they join the 10% club.
