silentcharon Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I am getting SO FRUSTRATED. Last time I saw my ex was in January when he broke up with me, and I don't care to see him again. The thing is that, I left my grad ring and a couple of things of sentimental value at his house when we broke up. I have been asking him to return my things, (even giving him my address so he can just mail it). He kept telling me he's been really busy, etc, etc. I've been giving him some slack because I've been busy myself. Well, the last two times we started talking on msn (the ONLY reason why I am still talking to this guy is because he's still got my stuff), he would go offline unexpectedly. Today, I saw him online, so I said, hey, hows it going. He said, hey and hey, I feel bad about having your stuff still... I have been neglecting that. And he logged off. The guy is starting to really piss me off. What the hell do I do to get my stuff back? It would only take him TEN minutes MAX to mail my stuff, and he's 'SO' busy that he cannot make the time. I replied with, "Here's the deal. I haven't seen you since Janurary, with minimal contact since. You've had my stuff for nearly three months now. I think you're avoiding me or don't really care. Whatever your case is, it would be easier if you just mail it or make a date for me to pick it up, and after that, you won't have to see me again. Think about it. Let me know. Bye." Any ideas?? I really want my stuff back and I don't care if I talk to this guy again or not.
Dubb Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Have any mutual friends? Someone who can do it for you? Seems like he is dragging his feet tho.
Trialbyfire Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 If he's in town, you define the time and the date. If he balks, he needs to commit to another time and date. Make the time and date that you first define, one that is coming up very soon, like Saturday afternoon. This way, if he chooses to push it out in a reasonable fashion, it should be within the next week or so.
Author silentcharon Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Yeah, been there and done that. The last two times I made a date with him- he balked. The second time, I called to see if it was still on and he neglected to tell me he had to go out of town for work for a couple of weeks. He left town prior to the date. And, no, we do not have mutual friends. I only dated him for two months. It's so frustrating. He's the one who said, "Let's be friends, you can come hang out with me and my friends/family, etc, etc." I told him, "Well, you should think whether you can commit to a friendship with me," after being fed some lines of how he can't commit because of work, etc, etc. "I think I can." "Well, I don't mean to be harsh, but don't waste my time." I honestly don't give two poops if he stays in my life or not, as he hasn't given me a reason to want him. I just want my stuff back. The sooner I get it back, the sooner I can cut him out of my life forever. What else can I do?
Author silentcharon Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Yeah. I've got a sweatpant and a hoodie. He knows it. Is he playing some kind of a sick game?
Dubb Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Seems like it to me. When my GF broke with me one of the first things I said to her was do you have anything at my house you want? I didn't want to deal with that situation later. He seems to want to hold on or play a stupid game. This reminds me my ex has my shorts still!!
Author silentcharon Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Is there any legal means for me to go get it? As he isn't complying voluntarily....
LakesideDream Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Yup, there is a legal avenue available. The truely personal things like your graduation ring are clearly yours and not a product of the live in relationship, you have a legit claim to that type of thing. Catch is it will cost you about $50.00. Sue him in small claims court. Chances are you will have your stuff back 48hrs after he is served. He won't want to go through the trouble of going to court, or the humiliation of looking like a turd in public. Hope that helps.
