Can anyone tell me what this means? An acquaintance mentioned this in a group the other day. She has been dating someone and said she was glad he was going away for the weekend... "It's just the six week thing."

None of us know her very well, and we didn't ask her, but later we were talking and we realized none of us has a clue what that means.

We'd love to know! We've heard of the seven year itch, but not the six week thing! We could ask her, but none of us are really very comfortable with her.

Thanks!

I also have no idea what that means... lol. Maybe it is a personal phrase she uses within her group of friends or something, like an inside joke. BUT, now I am also curious... lol.

The only thing we could come up with, is, if she is glad he is going away, it's probably not good. It sounds like the friendship/dating thing is either going to continue or die. We know the guy. We know her. We think that it sounds like it's at a turning point.

It has been my experience that you usually don't look forward to someone going away this soon, so that's why we don't get it.

It must be a really slow day for me if this is all I can find to wonder about.

Thank God. I was getting tired of drama.

Keep writing - it will give me info for the group tomorrow! :p

I definitely agree with you that her being glad he is going away is a bad thing. Especially after six weeks. AHA! I think I might have just got it. Maybe this always happens to her about six weeks into something. She wants to get away from it... like feels restless or needs space. So instead of figuring out why that is, she just accepts it and says... "it's the six week thing..." ;)

I don't think it's a bad sign. She has one weekend to herself, not worry about cleaning up her place, she can hang around in her pj's all weekend with no makeup if she wants. If she's like me, she's single, and used to having, and cherishing, some time to herself.

Plus they've probably been having sex a lot, so she'll get time to heal from that if 'ya know what I mean.
