A few days ago, I was talking to him over the cube wall. I was standing on a chair (I'm rather petite). We said "Bye" and I started to get off my chair... my chair toppled over.

I kind of klutzily, yet nimbly, jumped off and avoided falling. He came over to see if I was OK.

I was completely fine. Walking. Talking. The whole thing. He asked how I was a few times - and didn't laugh at me at all. (even though it was kind of a funny situation)

In any case, the next day, he said that the incident was "scary" (when I thanked him for coming to my aid). I find the use of the word "scary" interesting when he is no stranger to rough and tumble situations...

The genuine concern and the additional shared smiles we've had this week are perplexing me. Especially, when I take into account the distance that he shows otherwise. It is a studied distance; yet, he still likes to talk to me.

*sigh* I thought I was done with high school. If it weren't for the woman he is seeing, I think he would ask me out...

why doesn't he break it off with her then?

Hey topper, since you are such "the man" you probably have tons of women pursuing you, better get your hands off the computer so you can pick up the phone to receive all those phone calls. Just sit back and enjoy it, since that's how you operate w/women.

The old fall off the chair trick. Many a man has been trapped by that old trick. ( Doing my best Maxwell Smart impersonation.)

Oh you women and your feminine wiles.

That made me laugh! :)

Funny thing - I was so bummed that I really wasn't hurt! I mean, not even a little ankle twist.

And that's not a personal attack?

How do you know I'm not emailing all my female fans right now?

Note that she was the pursuer there, though. She was the one standing on the chair in the first place to talk to him. She's making all the moves. It's not like he was going out of his way to talk to her. If she was 60 years old, he still would have come over to see if she was OK.

I gotta tell ya... your attitude is annoying.

And, frankly, how do you know that I'm not 60? I never said my age.

Back off.

Frankly, women with attitudes like yours - and who backbite other women - give us a bad name. Men become wary of us when we attack each other and them - and with good reason.

Thanks! :) I'm about 5'1"

No red hair, though... or green eyes...

However, I have been told that I resemble Sandra Bullock or Marissa Tomei...

I wasn't attacking. Just saying it looks like you are doing the pursuing. It has to be a two way street and this situation appears to be one way. Sorry you're not hearing what you "want," I'm just giving an honest assessment from what you're saying. From your background, I had assumed or hoped that you weren't 60 because you said you had only had one relationship before.

I would have to have strong bones. :) I don't know if I should do that again, though... he seemed really worried... ;)

Thanks! Yeah, I'm OK with it.

I'm sure that you are being modest. Nonetheless, your manners are flawless. :)
