allina Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I think his reaction to the homeless person is a STRONG indicator of how he treats the less fortunate and how that would eventually spill into how he would treat YOU. How your SO treats other people , be it the waitresses , the homeless , black people , the disabled, tells you that your FUTURE treatment will be similar. Not necessarily. I for example do not treat homeless people with respect, would never give one money and if I see one pissing on the street I will loudly, in a disgusted voice say "EW!" However, I treat my SO with a great deal of respect, would never be rude to a waitress or a disables person or anyone based on race, or any factor for that reason. Also how can you possibly group together homeless people with waitresses, the disables and black people?? That really made me go "wtf?"

You dont know * how * that person got into that situation... That could happen to anyone. Including YOU. So before showing your disgust how about showing some empathy for that person and not * judge * them ? For whatever reason ,be it mental illness or personal circumstance some of the homeless are in a situation you could never fathom. How would you like to be standing outside in the dead of summer and want a cold bottle of water and everyone looked at you in disgust ?

I'm not judging anyone for being there and "wanting water" I do however get upset when I see them peeing, defecating and shooting up on the sidewalk.

Well I live in Las Vegas ; Population 1.8 million. I have not seen any homeless defecating or shooting up on the sidewalk. Then again , most of the homeless are downtown and I live on the outskirts. I do think peeing , defacating on the sidewalk are pretty nasty. I think that would gross anyone out.
