Pyro Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Maybe you can take shots. One to the head should fix it. Not for three million dollars. However, I might do it for three million each. :lmao:
norajane Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 nope, never. if a partner was allergic to my kitty or plain didn't like her, he wouldn't be suitable to be in a relationship with me. nice people take on pets with the implicit promise to be responsible for them and to love them for life. i wouldn't go back on that. not for any reason. and i would mistrust anyone who was prepared to get rid of a pet for me. i don't think pets are more important than humans, but i do think they're too important to disregard if they ever inadvertently become inconvenient. Oh, that's so sad! And so awful! I predict that relationship won't last. I'd never give up my sweet kitty.
magichands Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Oh, that's so sad! And so awful! I predict that relationship won't last. I'd never give up my sweet kitty. Did you quote the wrong post again?! Some people might enjoy the confusion, I suppose.
Totoro Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 As someone who is allergic to cats and dogs, I've struggled with dating. It sucks. Things can't progress if people have pets. The worst is when a girl I'm dating doesn't have pets, knows I'm allergic, and gets one anyway! I understand and empathize. Pets are a responsibility and people become attached. That responsibility should not be taken lightly. Now, if a relationship were to somehow develop, and we were to move in or get married, the pets would have to go. My health is more important. Sorry. There is no compromise unless we had like, a furnished garage to keep the pets in, but out of the other rooms. To me it's a no brainer. If you love someone, and things are progressing towards marriage, the pets go. But before that point...I could never ask someone to give up their pets. What I have done is ask to keep the pets out of the bedroom so I can at least sleep over. Usually I'm just told to suffer! Have you tried Claritin? I have 2 kitties that I myself am a bit allergic to. If you're deathly allergic, like having to rush to the emergency room and junk, that's one thing. But...if you are mildly to moderately allergic, there's lotsa stuff you can do to reduce your cat allergies (sorry, I don't know about dogs...). http://cats.about.com/od/allergiesandcats/a/allergictocat.htm Asking an SO to keep the cats out of the bedroom is completely reasonable. If you're told to "just suffer," f**k it!!
Totoro Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Magichands?!?!?!? I feel so disoriented now that you're no longer a pink elephant...
norajane Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Did you quote the wrong post again?! Some people might enjoy the confusion, I suppose. Ooops, I did it again! Yes, I was lamenting this post: My friend is giving up her birds, hampsters and dog for some arrognant jerk. If I had more space and money I would take her dog. I feel so sad for these pets. Easy come easy go for her, I guess. I am very disappointed with my friend. AND, to make it worse, she is dropping her pets off at the Humane Society. I wish she would try to give them away instead, say with an article in the paper or something other than dumping them at the shelter.
rainfall Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Never.... if he was allergic he would have to learn to love shots or he would just never be able to come to my house.
