For me, it depends on whether they show interest or not. If they show interest or potential interest, I stare back with a smile (3.)) or blank expression (4.)). If they don't, I just do the peripheral vision thing.

 

I am not a flirty person by nature and don't intend to be so I never do number 5.

(1) and (2) does nothing. (4) is a no-no... freaks people out.

 

(3) sends the message across and so does (5). You'll have to be loaded with confidence though.

1) & 2) most of the times. 3) if i know the person and we're close enough. I also stare a lot if nobody knows it - when i'm in the corner.

I think I do 1, but I'm probably doing 3 or 5 and don't realize it. I've been told by friends that I stare when I think I'm being subtle! My heart is on my sleeve, I'd make a rotten poker player.

I usually stare back without blinking but that depends on the proximity. I usually get lots of starings from women and I still think is something mysterious to me.
