GoldPenny Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I hear too many stories concerning that of ugly/overweight people almost always getting treated as if they don't exist, shoved around, stared at, whispered about, and such. Vanessa, Minnillo, the MTV VJay, dressed as a morbidly obese woman with facial prosthetics but cosmetic make-up, however, the face still wasn't bad, just the hair and clothes and body. Anyway, she quoted the exact same treatment. That's an extreme example, but how about the much less unattractive who quote the same things? I tried it myself. I wore a fat suit that made me appear about 150-60 pounds add markings on my face (done with professional help) for acne scars. AND, unlike Vanessa did in her stunt, I wore no cosmetic make-up but had some to make my skin dull. My hair was a mess. My clothes super frumpy. I did not wear facial prosthetics though. Anyway, however, I received smiles and greetings and small conversation like a normal person, even from this hot fashionista, jocky guy. No disgusted stares or whispers. I was treated like "the friend" and even in a few cases, "the crush". I see other noticeably and significantly overweight and unattractive folks who receive the same mild and friendly treatment, even out of the professional environment. What's your take?
phyrespryte Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 My take? That people aren't all bad and tv hypes things up way too much. Or perhaps Vanessa Minnillo is a cold-hearted biatch who only makes friends because she's cute. As a result she is unable to relate to people without her looks.
rainfall Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 150 pounds isn't fat Agree for the most part but it kinda depends how tall you are.
Trialbyfire Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Obese and extremely unattractive people are treated badly. All you have to do is look at the kids in school and who gets picked on more. As for the midling unattractive or heavier individuals, everyone has a different idea of what constitutes attractive or overweight.
Author GoldPenny Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 150 pounds is not fat. Um, yes it is esp. since I am small-boned female and barely average height. By the way...I even added an extra 10 to make me look 160; hence, "150-60 pounds".
