puddleofmud Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Good news to report! After hybernating for what seemed to be the long winter I have finally become, again, attracted to men. Not ALL of the men, just some of the men... I am feeling a little giddy about one or two...flirting awkardly and crap, I do mean AKWARDLY being a little "gun-shy". I am constantly looking for wedding rings and any signs of attachment-- each completely unacceptable!!!! Yet I am comforted that I am feeling attracted and not expecting anything about it. It's just so nice to feel a bit giddy, to actually LIKE men again, and to feel that my damaged heart can, at least, quicken. AND I like so very much that past EX-Mr. "whatever" counts for N-O-T-H-I-N-G. I shall be leaving Friday for a quick flight to Boston for St. Paddy's Day with my Irish, and I do mean IRISH, part of my family, as they live in Ireland and we will all meet in Boston for the weekend for much merriment and familial crazy antics. I shall think of you all with a good heart and get back as soon as the assured hang over wears off! May the road rise up....for all of us! Hugs and kisses!

Hope you get there and have an amazing time, one way or another! I know! Getting from Belfast to Kennedy was a simple nice flight across the perverbial pond for my cousins whom are now IN Boston via car rental as we speak, but I can't get across the good old US of A? I am getting ready to piss my pants (without yet even a pint o' drink--poor pitiful me) if I can't get the heck outta here. I have spring fever and its killing me....all I can do is sit and wait for the airline to buzz my phone. Oh well, worse things have happened and I'm sure it'll be funny as soon as I can GET THERE, DAMMIT! Really, it would be so much better to have a flight delayed upon getting back Sunday night so I wouldn't have to go back:sick: to freakin' work...

NearlyThere Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Raise your hands up and sing "Come On, Eileen"!! Can anyone relate out there???????????? Yes I can, for some reason I really disliked that song, think it came out at a very unhappy period of my life. Also all it reminds me of is women dancing round handbags, lol.
Author puddleofmud Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Finally, am leaving now!!! Hugs to all and will report next week. Should I accidentally find a wonderful unmarried available lovable man I shall clone him for all of us and pass said clones to each every one of you:laugh: But I am not going looking for MEN I am going to have too much fun to care! wooooo hoooo de plane de plane!!!!!!
Author puddleofmud Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Yes I can, for some reason I really disliked that song, think it came out at a very unhappy period of my life. Also all it reminds me of is women dancing round handbags, lol. You are such a NUT, girl! I've read that book (re: dancing around hand bags) and just loved it. My cab isn't here and I've to get on my flight in 40 minutes. I looove Boston and the Mighty Mighty Boss Tones (they are supposed to be playing tomorrow eve and am looking so forward to great ska and lots of beer before the parade on Sunday), but right now I am so antsy all I can think of is the House of Pain song: "JUMP, JUMP, JUMP AROUND" because every Irish Bar in Boston plays that song about every half hour. My cousins come to Boston all the time and we planned this a while back without realizing this was St. Pat's Day, and they are really excited and curious because in Ireland St. Patricks day is so deadly SERIOUS, you have to go to church ALL day!!! There are no celebrations there like in the USA. I think "Come On Irene" is Scot? Maybe I am wrong? My fav band of all time is the Pogues! I saw them in NY several times. Well anyways, I am American Indian and Irish, raised Indian but I always say "don't EVER get my F'ing Irish up" or you'll regret it... Shyte no cab! and I need to get to the airport. Now my son is going to take me! Why am I telling you all this? Because I really like you and I've no life. Ha Ha. Eri goe braugh.
polywog Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 WTF is a nor'easter? It's a horrible brutal coastal storm, a northeaster, that blasts the east coast with high winds and snow or rain off of the Atlantic and wreaks havoc on the travel plans of all fun loving people who live in New England.
movinon05 Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 "Come on Eileen" just happened to be playing while I typed. But have any of you heard of "Blackthorn." BIG in the NJ, PA area. Excellent CDs. I haven't heard this JUMP JUMP song, but the Celtic Symphony!! Oh yeah! Oooh Aaah, up the rah! (If you've heard it, you'd know that's not what they're really singing. As I type this, the clock is just about to turn over to... oh yes... 12:00 a.m. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY ALL! Slainte!!
NearlyThere Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hey POM Did you have a good time in Boston???
Author puddleofmud Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 OMG! Thank you for asking and YES I did! This has been one of the most lovely time I ever experienced. Fortunately, my severe anxiety about just "just getting there" was very accute. I really wanted and needed to be with all of them. I did loose some sleep Friday with the delayed flight and it was so damned chilly the entire time. Getting off the plane was a awful--my fannie was sooo cold, never even 40 degrees during the day. But everything worked out so well I've nary a complaint. I stayed at my cousin's family's place (these are not my blood relations but my blood cousin's family by marriage whom they always visit in Boston--but who cares--they didn't!) and I had so much fun with them all day being that there were literally dozens upon dozens of "family" who dropped by Saturday to share pictures of all of us in Ireland when I was younger and visited there and seeing so many ancient photos about my family. And all did well commenting upon these vintage photos: my mini skirt, my hair, smeared eye-liner and my total lack of catholismn. No matter that I was merely 17...with a terribly short Catholic school girl skirt, a white Brooks Brother's Shirt tied up under my sooo not wearing a bra, and my to the knees black Doc Martins. They've no idea Brittany Spears robbed every Irish girl's "punk" attire! But everyone (all unkown to me) rushed in saying "THERE SHE IS!" and I listened to every word and loved every hug. Just amazing. They all insisted that we must watch the St. Pat's Parade from Chicago so that "WE" could compare this or any Irish "clan" to what was going to be respresented in the Boston parade. "oh, look: there's those Moriarty(s)-- only 250(! ) in Chicago where there are 400 in Boston! We ate and ate all day and then went out to their boat in Boston Harbor until about 9:30. Thenk we went to a lot community bars in the established "Irish" district of historically "Irish union workers: docksmen, fishers, fire fighters, cops, etc. Then we went to an established very Irish bar that I had wanted to go and see one of my fav band: Drop Dead Murphies! Nothing like Boston American IRISH ska/ punk. Completely sold out, but I begged like crazy and we and got in! Sunday we all, it would seem. about 400 hundred of us, proudly went to the parade. Of course some did go to church that morning from what I gather, but most loved the parade if only to compare that "this clan" and "that clan" is "nothing" compared to OUR clan. And "putting" me on the plane made everyone cry and I cried, too. I am so glad I went and I loved every feckin Irish moment!

BTW, i've told you before about using the word fannie to an English girl, lol. NT xxx

Author puddleofmud Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 I think someone is winding you up Either that or you're winding us up! Glad you had a good one POM, even with that delayed flight. No, not winding any one! Planned this five years ahead and when calling my agent she said that it would be more expensive being that it was a "big day for Boston" Duh, me? And in Ireland, St. Pat's; according my experience is deadly serious as that this is the day to observe that St. Patrick "brought" Christianity to Ireland. Mass occurs at least three times that day for the devout. More U.S.A "type" celebrations have begun, recently, in the larger cities and far more for the aspect of tourism, rather than the historical religious perception of the occasion which remains in tact in the smaller towns. Sort of like Christmas and or vs. the commercialization of "Santa".
Ripples Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Um, POM, I didn't mean you were winding us up about Boston being a big day etc. I know how big a deal America makes of St Patrick's day. I meant about Ireland not celebrating it as a big deal, going to church etc. I think you'll find that things have changed since your experience.

My thoughts were when they were saying spending the day in "church" they really meant the Pub. lol.
