I_am_a_DUMBO3000 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hey, if a few people could just help me out here and take the time to answer a few simple questions about Lifetime movies, that would be really great. Okay thanks. Why do you think people make Lifetime movies? Why do you watch Lifetime movies? What affects have these movies had on you? What are some of your favorite movies?Anything else you wanna say?Okay thanks, that's it.

I find it fascinating that your "first" LS post is about "Lifetime" movies. I think people make them because they pay for advertising for female-trouble products. I can't watch them, it's unbearable to me to think that anyone can swallow that drivel, let alone watch it. ....can't wait to read other posts on this thread!
polywog Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Now I am thinking that you work for "Lifetime", am I right?
Author I_am_a_DUMBO3000 Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 No, I don't work for Lifetime, I'm doing research on it though. Long story. BUT it would be nice to be a journalist someday. But right now I'm really aiming for writing a book (if that makes sense). But you peoples didn't really need to know that.
Jinxx Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Occasionally I will watch because alot of lifetime movies are based on factual events. I'm sure a lot of it exagerated but still.... kinda of intoxicating to watch. Not all of them though. Some of them are downright stupid.

Most of the actors involved in Lifetime movies are not hot commodities and they probably make the movies for the same reason we all work - it was the best job with the highest pat at the time. The Lifetime movies I choose to watch are usually either heavily promoted Lifetime Originals with an interesting subject matter that is either true, or based on current events. I can't even name any, but I have watched a few in the past year and would recognize the titles if I saw or heard them. I don't feel terribly affected by many of the movies I have seen, but there was one about a white teacher (played by Matthew Perry, of Friends fame) in a black district and called The Ron ????? Story if I remember correctly, that I really enjoyed. There was another story based on desegregating prom activities at a New Orleans high school that was worth my time. Both were true stories of bad situations that were made better by an individual, and both also involved racial relations where at least a few people's perceptions were changed. I guess I found them inspiring. The movies are mostly geared towards women's emotions and for awhile too many had the same theme it seemed, like abused mother saved by her daughter, or challenged child not saved by the mother. My manly man has been known to check out a Lifetime Movie every now and then. Hmm, didn't know I could find so much to say when I read the title of the thread. Guess I will talk just to hear myself talk some days. Okay, most days.
magichands Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 But right now I'm really aiming for writing a book There's been a bit of that lately.
dropdeadlegs Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 There's been a bit of that lately. Nearly all my posts are book length.....No condensed versions.
polywog Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 There's been a bit of that lately. no kidding... it's almost made me bail out of LS!
Author I_am_a_DUMBO3000 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 There's been a bit of that lately. But considering my age, you might be surprised. Well, maybe not so surprised, but I'm a fairly good writer.
magichands Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 But considering my age, you might be surprised. Well, maybe not so surprised, but I'm a fairly good writer. Cool. May I suggest that you use the word "wanna" sparingly. Were there really 2999 other Dumbos?
Author I_am_a_DUMBO3000 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Ok, I'll use the word "wanna" sparingly. I'll probably only use it in dialogue, and I'm already on Chapter 3 and page 15 and I haven't used that word once. And no, I doubt there were 2999 other DUMBOs. I just thought DUMBO3000 had a better ring to it.
magichands Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 , and I'm already on Chapter 3 and page 15 and Is that 15 pages all-up, or page 15 of Chapter 3? Either way, not too shabby. Oh - and don't forget to describe the striations on my trunk.
