princesspeaches Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 my girlfriend and I were talking the earlier today, and she told me that she proposed to her husband. It made me curious to see what the guys, and gals here at ls felt about that? Guys how would that make you feel? Would you like that? If you had been planning to, and she did it first would would you be upset? Girls would you ever ask a guy that? why or not? Just curious, thanks for your responses.
Woggle Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 My wife proposed to me and I am glad she did. I don't see anything wrong with it.
Author princesspeaches Posted March 3, 2007 Author Posted March 3, 2007 My wife proposed to me and I am glad she did. I don't see anything wrong with it. That's cool. It's something that I had thought about. If you don't mind me asking, what did she say?
LoveLace Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I would like to know how she proposed...I'm female..I don't know if I could ever get the nerve...that's neat though
Island Girl Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Have had guys propose 13 times. Mostly not memorable. The last proposal was the one that stuck - I proposed to him! He said after that he'd wanted to anyway but he wasn't angry. All he cared about was getting married.
Woggle Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 That's cool. It's something that I had thought about. If you don't mind me asking, what did she say? It wasn't a proposal where she got down on one knee or anything like that. We were went out to eat and out of the blue she asked me if I wanted to get married. I said yes and 8 months later we were married.

I wouldn't mind if the women proposed, but I may become a little irritated if I had something planned and she beat me to the punchline.

Ok so I have to ask, had you been planning to and she did it first would you want to do what you had planned anyway? or would you just let it go?
magichands Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Ok so I have to ask, had you been planning to and she did it first would you want to do what you had planned anyway? or would you just let it go? You could just say, "Oh baby, it's so sweet of you to ask," and then pretend like it didn't happen. If she pushes you, then "This is the moment I have always dreamed about" might be the way to go. Then do your own thing.

But magichands, you seem to always have some good funny comments. thanks for the input.
Pyro Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Ok so I have to ask, had you been planning to and she did it first would you want to do what you had planned anyway? or would you just let it go? Thats a good question. I guess that it would depend on what I had planned. If it required alot of time, energy, and money, then I probably would still do it.

polywog Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I never cared about being married despite a few long term relationships with proposals from men, which I ended. Then I met the man I knew I wanted to marry, and proprosed to him, because I meant it. After about a year we did marry, but it sucked eventually and we divorced after 7 years (no kids, thank god) & I do not regret this marriage/legal committment. Now my faith in traditional marriage is sketchy at best, and soul mates and all that crap, but yet I still have strong feelings about monogamy and marriage despite that.... and think that either partner, male or female should take up the cause when they see fit. We live so long now and no longer have the need to breed, so it will be interesting to see where this all takes us.
magichands Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 , and soul mates and all that crap, Brilliant!! I was so struggling for words. The perfect proposal: "Will you marry me, and all that crap?"
Author princesspeaches Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 Brilliant!! I was so struggling for words. The perfect proposal: "Will you marry me, and all that crap?" haha I'm still laughing at that one. That's perfect.
polywog Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Brilliant!! I was so struggling for words. The perfect proposal: "Will you marry me, and all that crap?" Well, this is what it amounted to, I am not kidding....except that the "all that crap"part was kind of over-ridden by my passionate, stubborn insistance, for what that was worth (not much, over the long haul). Learn from my mistakes.
