Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I have been seeing a guy I like a lot for a month now. Well...we went out for dinner on Wed. and he told me that he had to tell me he smokes pot about 2 times a week. Ok, then he said that he wanted to tell me now because a lot of women had decided to bail on him after he told them about this. However, he felt I was more special than anyone he had ever seen, and didn't want to become too attached and tell me months down the line like he had done with them and then have it go 'puff' in his face. I said I was really surprised and said that I had never done pot myself. (I am 38 and this is true, I just have no desire to do any kind of drugs.) I asked him "If you really cared about a woman, would you consider quitting?" His reply was "It's a two-way street, though. A person who loved ME should be able to accept that I do that." (It almost seemed like a line he had used before.) The reason he decided to tell me on WEd. was because we had planned a weekend trip together and he didn't want me to get upset if he took some with him to the hotel and sprung it on me like that. I told him I couldn't go on the trip with things and that I'd really have to think about if I wanted to see him anymore. He was really hurt and upset and wrote me an email the next day hoping I'd change my mind about seeing him again. Ok this guy is 40, a successful (I think from what he's said) businessman...is that odd that he smokes pot 2 times a week or am I being too prudish? I've never dated a guy that did pot to be honest. I think well, if we end up married, I don't know if I could deal...also he wants marriage and a kid very soon....what do you tell little Johnny when he asks "Where's Dad?" As a mother I wouldn't want to have to say "ummm, he's outside smoking a reefer." Also is twice a week considered an addiction to pot? I like this guy a lot aside from what he has told me. To be honest right now I'm totally creeped out by it but wondering if I'm being harsh. Thanks for any opinions or viewpoints.
