pricillia Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 But it is happening again, and I wonder if this is tied to my hormones in reguard to my monthlys... I am lactating and am due to have my monthly's in around two days... I wonder if this is why, someone told me it could be my hormones..
LucreziaBorgia Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 You may want to consider speaking to your doctor about the possibility of a prolactinoma.

whichwayisup Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 prolactinoma Gonna have to google that one. my ex-wife used to have minute amts of milk come out of her breasts on rare occasions. the left one was whole and right one 2% Did you suck on her boob and try it? I'm serious...And kind of curious if you tried it.
LucreziaBorgia Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 What is it, as I am finding this only happens before my monthlys... Its a tumor on your pituitary gland. It causes an increase in prolactin, which in turn can cause you to lactate even when not pregnant. Now, there are other things it could be as well - but you will definitely want to ask your doctor's opinion and get him/her to run some tests for you to check your prolactin levels and what could be causing increases in your levels. There are other causes for increased prolactin, and your doctor should be able to help you rule some things out through a variety of tests.

LucreziaBorgia Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Thanks LB, this helps! No prob. I had the same problem myself a few years ago. Went through a battery of tests including a brain scan. Turns out mine was tied to thyroid problems.

DyingHeart Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 But it is happening again, and I wonder if this is tied to my hormones in reguard to my monthlys... I am lactating and am due to have my monthly's in around two days... I wonder if this is why, someone told me it could be my hormones.. I agree it's worth seeing a doctor for. Do you take any medications? I used to be on Risperdal ( for depression of all things ) and I used to lactate during my menstural cycle. I was told it was not actual breast milk, but just the colostrum. Birth control can cause this also. Sometimes, it may only be the hormones, and be completely harmless, but it's still wise to have a few tests done to rule out anything that could be serious. Good Luck! DH
Storyrider Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 hmmmm, it is both my breasts but the left more so then the right... Well, that is usually the case with normal lactation as well, that one breast produces more milk. So I don't know if that helps you narrow down what is going on. Good luck with this.

I rarely drink and do not smoke...
Author pricillia Posted March 4, 2007 Author Posted March 4, 2007 It could just be stress related too... I would not be surprised if it were stress...
Guest Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I had an issue with the same thing. Every month my breats would swell slighlty, feel hot and full (they're quite small so any swelling was easily detected. I've breast fed two kids so wasn't sure if that had something to do with it. When it first started happening I thought I was pregnant each time, because sore boobs was the first thing I noticed in each pregnancy. But anyways, went to the doc, she squeezed til she got some out, checked my prolactin levels, and everythings fine. It is apparently all just a part of getting older. I was quite relieved. So don't worry to much about it. If it would make you feel better, go to the doc and get the prolactin levels checked. Hope I could offer some sort of help.
