A spin on another thread "men need a 2 x4 to get it"

This thread is a place to post your tips on how to communicate with men.

Does a 2 x4 really work? (I am visualizing that it indeed would)

Whack....... and ding goes the bell....... then results.?????

What are your communication tips? Both genders please post. We may actually get some good ideas from this.

Right off the top of my head I can only think of a few ways to communicate with a man.

1. Nuke his TV remote and serve it to him on a plate a linguini with clam sauce....... he may get the idea that he needs to pay attention to what you are saying?

2. Hang his underwear like Tibetan Prayer Flags on your front porch....... he may decide he needs to listen to what you have to say.

3. Ask him to go grocery shopping with you..... pretend you are going after a forgotten item and abandon him at the store...... he may ask why you did it.

4. Make a 5' mock up dummy of your man and hang it from your entry light with a noose ...... (he may not notice it, you may have to attach a playboy or put a case of beer under it to lure him to see it)...... he may ask if something is bothering you once he does notice this.

5. Let him catch you naked in bed with one of your girlfriends...... toss him out of the bedroom after he catches you and lock the door..... you may get his attention?

6. Get a tattoo that clearly displays another mans or several mens names......

this may not work as it could takes weeks for him to notice or he may think its the names of your relatives and just is not interested enough to ask.

No Alpha believe it or not this is not about you. I do see that you need the attention or you crave it...... but this actually comes from an experience I had this weekend....... and no it was not an erotic dream about you. :lmao:

Although I did have a dream about midgets that worked in a sewer ..... Hey, maybe it was about you? :D

I love and care about you Alpha, you are the most important man in my life, I cannot live without you, you are the man, I worship you. (feel better now that you got your attention dose?) Would you rather be spanked?

no, i don't get into that stuff...

but there is my concise advice to women re: talking to men. Stop thinking that men should already know what to do or say or how to behave. If you like it say "i like it"....if you don't like it say "i don't like it".

You know I have done this........

But typically it was to save the partners feelings. Like with a gift ect.....

I mean really how many times does a woman say that the love making session was great when it was really blah. I think women may do this quite a bit to not hurt their partners feelings?

a4a- still luv ya Alpha! ummmmm ummmm!

Just make sure it's for a tea candle or they'll use it as a beer can holder, at which point the 2 x 4 becomes kinda useless as an attention getter.

How do you tell a man that he needs to start actually listening when you speak to him? (without threatening his nut sack with a bic lighter)

translate into man speak please.

so when the wife is banging her husband's best friends and her husband finds out and she says "oh, we're just friends honey, he he he...". This is meant to not hurt the husbands' feelings?!?

Sure that is what I would do!

Is that not what men say when they are banging another woman? Oh but they do it just because they don't want to be caught right? :lmao:

Really now...... how the hell do you tell a man that you need them to hear what you are saying?

Usually this doesn't stand or fall on one interaction, but the whole pattern.

Check out Gottman's work on marriage and communication. Male stonewalling and defensiveness is usually the equal and opposite response to female criticism, contempt and lack of listening.

What do you need him to hear?

Sports and car analogies work for me. You can adapt those to work for just about any argument/point you're trying to make and you WILL get through. In fact, make up a scenario/point you want to make right now and apply my method. Try it. It works!

If he's the sort of guy who doesn't listen when you speak to him, then the chances are that however you tell him, he's going to construe it as nagging or whining.

If I'm rambling on and I suddenly realise I lost my audience quite some time ago, I'll stop talking for a few seconds...then I'll say something like "but, please - whatever you do, don't tell any of your friends I said that."

well for one thing a4a if women started talking less then their words would mean more. Seee, heres the thing.....women talk too much about mindless drivel that bores most men to tears: shopping, relationships, their girlfriends, shoes, Nip/Tuck, cats, stuffed animal, towels, shaving their legs, chocolate, kids, jewelry, etc.... (this list is not all inclusive by any means).

So what happens is that men start to "tune out" the female cause 95% of what comes out of her mouth is irrelevant to him. Ergo, he then also sometimes inadvertently tunes out the 5% of what she says that is really important.

Basically what it comes down to is that the more you speak the less your words mean overall. If you have someone who does not talk a lot then when they finally do speak up their words will have much more meaning and people will pay attention.

I can't believe I actually agree with alpha on this one. Sometimes folks do talk too much so that it's hard to distinguish what's important from out of the tidal wave of language.

But back to a4a: After decades of this problem, I've finally found an approach that works for a man who would look at the 2x4 like Slubber and ask what project the lumber was for. It's almost like what you have to do with a little out-of-control child (you know, kneel to their level, put your hands on their shoulders and speak directly to them quietly and calmly).

I say to my husband, who hates emotional ambushes for good reasons: "We need to talk about thus and such." When can we set aside time to do that?

In other words, I've learned he needs a business meeting with an agenda for anything that could be remotely emotional.
