tiki Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 How do you guys feel about "little white lies"? Are they a precursor to more lies? Are they acceptable? What about in a relationship?
savethedrama4allama Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 What kind? I mean "hon, your spaghetti is great" or "you aren't a bit overweight to me" is fine. But, "I was over at mom's" (when he was actually at his buddies house) is not okay. He shouldn't be lying to me about places he is going, what he's doing, etc. Why, you got an issue? Spill it! Spill it! Cool avatar too. -Boy George
Author tiki Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 Idunno, a few weeks ago, I felt like he had been on my computer. I asked. He denied it. Then came forth about a minute later. He had checked into this site and once he got there, realized it had some inappropriate pics. He says he left the site and cleared the history so I wouldn't see it. Well I'm not THAT stupid. I had seen that the history had been cleaned, and it wasn't me. He had remorse for lying. He's faithful in every other way, but I seem to be hung up on this. Is it a sign of what's to come?!
Adunaphel Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 IMO, Telling you he ate pizza instead of a hot-dog is okay. the "yes, I think you are more beautiful than her" or "no, I don't think you are fat" kind of lies are actually great. Telling little lies to look more interesting to you is not cool - expecially if it happens often. if it happens only once in a while it is not a criminal offense. Lying about places he's been to - well, to me it would be a red flag.
Sukotto Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 I have a keylogger installed on my machine that I view after being away from the computer for a length of time. It just ftp's it to my file server. I even have it installed on my laptop, pity there isn't a version for the ibook. It helped me discover how i got a virus on my PC, it was my sister and its helpful when I forget what passwords I used on a site It gets gzipped once a week with a cron job and every 6 months I encrypt it and put it on a cd.
faux Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I do not like lies of any sort. Constructive criticism is often taken better by me than a white lie. As for computers... Mmm. I use a very lengthy password to log into windows, and the "Lock Computer" feature in Windows XP Professional comes in equally handy when I must leave the computer running for any length of time. If I feel extra paranoid, I can always resort to using my USB thumb drive as a key in locking my computer.

If he didn't, I'd say that it might be a sign of things to come.
Author tiki Posted October 20, 2004 Author Posted October 20, 2004 Poor fella, he can't lie well. Either can I. It's so obvious when I'm guilty. Then I start laughing uncontrollably at how stupid I must appear. I mean, it's NOT funny, but it kinda is.
