If a female coworker only winks at me, is it safe to say she's flirting? And no, she doesn't have a tic or something in her eye. Lol.

If it makes any difference, she only winks from a distance or when she's walking away. Just don't want to read too much into something that may not be there.

I thought this would be an anthropological analysis into the history and development of the wink... :lmao:

Personally, I have never winked at anyone.

I think a wink is such an aggressive and sexual move. Then again for many its a friendly pat on the shoulder acknowledgement like "good to see you".

If winking is the ONLY thing she does, don't read too much into it.

The usual list of flirting signs accompanying the wink. Just was wondering if the exclusivity of it with me held any meaning?

Wouldn't read too much into it. There's not enough information to suggest that there's any particular reason why she's singling you out.

Sometimes people wink when they think they say something clever. I think the wink is cocky and sarcastic and i'd poke them in their eye so they have a real reason to wink.

So what makes you so sure that she only winks at you? Are you in visual contact with her eyes at all times? IMO people who wink, throw that **** around anytime and to anyone.

So, what you're saying is, some people are just winkers?

Yes i definitely believe that. I never wink and I tried to do it and it looked and felt awkward. I wouldn't doubt if the OP's winker even winks at females.

There's a guy at work that does this. Except with both eyes at the same time so I don't know what his deal is. I've never winked at anyone. It just seems kinda hard to pull off you know...exactly right.

It appears to be a rather overt flirtation. It's not my style to do that but there are other situations where it means something else (like telegraphing a private joke about someone else or to imply you're pulling someone's leg.). Winking gets old in a a hurry as a gesture of anything so, if this woman winked at you for no apparent reason, i think she probably threw you the ball and it's in your court to pick it up and do something or just leave it and go about your business.

um you can't really wink with both eyes at the same time. That is called a blink. :/

You have to make a conscious effort to wink, and she uses it strategically when we're alone. She also listens extraordinary well, makes constant eye contact, and wants to take breaks with me. Hard to think the wink is inconsequential. I've never been winked at before, so this all kind of throws me for a loop. I don't want to overanalyze anything, but it's a bit intriguing.

This is important information that you left out. Your latest post suggests that you have already decided that there is more to it. If you're interested and your company policies do not prohibit romantic relationships between colleagues, why not ask her out for lunch so that you can ask her about the winking?

OP, that's all well and good and I'm not at all advising you to not act on it, but the most definitive clarity to the mystery will be when she accepts a date with you. I've seen it all, including selective nudity and, in the final analysis, it means nothing if she doesn't date you. Be clear that it's a date. No 'hanging out' or 'grabbing a bite'. Be definitive.

The 'fishing in the company pond' issue is completely separate. Up to you about that risk. Hope it works out.

Ok it seriously does not take a a conscious effort for some people to wink. I was winked at by my male boss the other day. I do not think he has a sexual attraction to me. It is just something learned for him that he does all the time.

But regardless of whether this is a habit or not, she still left you an opening to pursue her if you want. She may do this to every guy just to get attention but ultimately it is up to you to decide where you want to take it.

I have one thing to say to you........;)
