LoveandSuch Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I am back in contact with special friend who I broke up with because it was getting too serious, too fast, and we can never be together in the long run. I received a text and call from a number that was fake, and the number was that of a CRAZY woman, lol! There seems to be companies you can call numbers and mask your own with a made up one of your choice. Well the text was from a landline number, which was impossible and the lady I called was waaaay crazy. I texted my friend because he had tried other means of contact and I thought this was a clever way of trying to achieve it....he still denies it but does not deny it. I hate/love being back in contact. I want to attempt to start off as friends, even though he is so charming. My question is do you think this type of trickery with calling is deceitful or wierd? Or is it fate?

Or is it fate? I'm confused. You say you can never be with this guy in the long-run so what is the point of all this? Why do you seem to be so flattered that someone would resort to "trickery" as you put it, to reestablish contact with you? You claim he denied being behind this so how are you so sure it was him? I've had plenty of weird text messages on my phone as I'm sure others have as well; it's generally just spam.
sm1tten Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I don't understand what happened here but it's not fate.

It was not spam, a missed call from a number, and also a text of the number. It was from a service you can sign up with and call anyone and make it any number you wish it to look like it came from. You cannot trace it because it goes through the companies call center. Fate, I meant, that I was adamant that I was going to remain complete NC, but the fact I called a crazy lady which was humerous in itself, and it was clever, in that I did not even notice my number was part of the made up one. I had to call him. We talked for almost 10 hours and I missed work! I feel like I am in a confused state again. I am and .....

But how can you claim that it's "fate" when you don't even know for sure that he was behind it? Unless he outright admitted that he used such a service to contact you, then how was it anything other than some spammer or telemarketer calling your phone? You obviously broke up with him for a reason. You obviously made the decision to go NC for a reason. But you've broken NC and you contacted him. I don't see where fate figures into any of this.

OnyxSnowfall Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I don't understand what happened here but it's not fate. :lmao:... I'm sorry... it seems to be more of an excuse than fate, OP =/ Even if you called this "crazy lady", you did not have to contact him. It is okay if you wanted to break contact... so long as you're prepared to accept whatever may come from it... etc. But I too can't fathom how it was fate
country_gurl Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Sounds more to me like a case of you wanting to BELIEVE that it was him reaching out to you and as a result you broke No Contact and contacted him.
luvflower Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I have heard of this switching of caller identity. I think it's called spoofing and it's not really intended for anything positive. Maybe stalking, checking on a cheating spouse, and oh, did I mention stalking... Some of us are trying to avoid this type of stuff, but you're obviously flattered by it. wow... Enjoy!...?
Professor X Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 It has nothing to do with fate, I hope you know that much. The reason you've called him is because you missed him, nothing more, nothing less.

The reason you've called him is because you missed him, nothing more, nothing less. Ha ha...maybe, but it was also because I found it to be clever although devious. The woman was indeed crazy and when she denied the call, and when I mentioned text, she said this is a landline, I cannot text from here....she was older and real spacy, like an old 60s guru..lol. She then said doesnt it seem strange your number is included in mine with a few different numbers and different state. I wonder why this practice has not been outlawed. Really? A sexual predator could send a fake call to a child's phone with parents number on it, and ask them to meet somewhere, I read on the site you can even mask your voice. Never heard of it before the call.
Author LoveandSuch Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 I missed the calls, the voice, soothing conversation. The problem is, it is a yellow tape, comfort blanket, that is great short term, but I really need to spread my wings and leave this fantasy behind!
sm1tten Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 It's not fate if you basically made it happen. That's not how fate works. You didn't just happen to call him - you assumed it was him reaching out to you, which is obviously what you wanted, ergo you called him. So no, not fate. And for the record, how did you trace the number if you "can't" trace it?

And for the record, how did you trace the number if you "can't" trace it? I did not trace the number. I had a few missed calls and a text, the text actually when I re looked at it was showing the text was from my number and all that on the text was the number in question. When I researched it after batty lady was all paranoid, it said on the paid site for spoof calling the texts will look as if they came from the person you text phone, in other words does not work with texts, and that is exactly how it was on my phone, plus my number was in the fake calls number. The fate wording was meant because of other factors and my placing or including it in my post was in error, because I left alot out.
Professor X Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Ha ha...maybe, but it was also because I found it to be clever although devious. Hehe, what if I'd put a banana in your path and you'd trip, would you think it's clever although devious? and you'd assume it's "his" doing? Cause it's basically what happened here. Don't wanna sound harsh, just wanna put things into perspective for ya.
