movingonandon Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 allright, I'll do my part to make this one of the periodic, redundant loong multi-page threads on the war of the sexes . There are clear and irreconsilable differences between the sexes, yes, especially when it somes to dating and sex. I do not understand it. Any of the biological explanations make no sense, because if we do not listen to biology in any other regard (i.e. timing of pregnancies, "age-approrpiate" physical activity etc.), why should we listen to it in this regard? Case in point: today women get pregnant *only if they want to*. If we did in fact listen to mother nature, we would start f***ng like crazy at the age of 14 and girls would have 3-4 babies by the age of 20. But we do not, because we know better and have totally slapped mother nature in the face when it comes to sex w. contraception, and all the regulaiton of sex. Basically we can do whatever we want. So all the nonsense of sex having some greater special significance (and consequences) for women it, at the very least strange, and at the worst, parroting of quilt-induced stereotypes . Obviously, to each their own, so no attitude is "more right" than the other, I only wish that men these days weren't so apologetic about what they want from women:). Sure, great intimate relationships are enviable and something everybody should aspire to, but casual sex isn't too bad either .

redfathom Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Moving, about your mother nature comment. I don't think it's a slap in the face. What you are talking about happened so long ago when people didn't live past 40, and a lot of babies died during child birth, or shortly after. Now with the percentage of successful births going up and people living longer it's a good thing that we have contraception otherwise the world would be far more populated then it is now. Plus if you are naming 14 as the menstruating age for girls as the time when they should start making babies, well, with hormones what they are now some girls are menstruating as early as 11. So do you suggest they do what mother nature wants them to and put down those Barbie dolls so they can pop out 3-4 children like they are supposed to?

You should thank me then, I am giving them the guide to happiness. Perhaps those whiny men actually wanted a relationship, or they believe that is what they should want. I think many men and women are good in relationships, they are happy and it is a positive aspect of their lives...I also think many people are NOT good in relationships. I am the latter; I love women, I am just no good in "relationships" AT ALL. For men and women like us I think it is necessary to establish a formula for success (lest we fall in to a relationship or being cruel). I do not find it honorable to lie to women, to lead them on, or to be disrespectful. Oh, and I do pay for the date, I have asked them out and it would be discourteous to not host. I feel with this "formula" for "happiness" all parties are left undamaged, happy, and respected. This formula is for men who have realized they do not prefer to be in relationships. thanks, VK
