fray718 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) What exactly are the differences between the two? I know that a person can love someone but not be IN love with them...which to me is quite tragic! But can you (in reverse) be in love with someone without being at the stage of loving them yet? Been dating my bf for 2 months but one month in he told me he's falling in love with me....but he hasn't mentioned it since and has not yet said he loves me yet. So is it possible that he's IN love with me but doesnt' actually love (which to me I think takes time to develop whereas it seems like being in love wiht someone can be almost an instant process) me? Don't get me wrong I prefer this over someone loving me but not being in love with me and I don't find any problem with any of this yet but just kind of curious. Is being in love similar or the same to being infatuated? I know I have strong feelings for him and think about him often (does this mean I'm in love with him?) but I know I don't exactly love him yet. I was this way with one other person before. Just kinda curious about everyone's thoughts on this Edited January 7, 2008 by fray718

Just kinda curious about everyone's thoughts on this I think "in love" is simply infatuation. There's no need to even play around with those words until that stage is ended. I don't think that stage has to completely end though. I think successful relationships go through phases of it. It's that part of the relationship that we're attracted to. It just takes a lot of work to keep that going....
