This is kind of a silly thread but here goes...is there ever some stupid little something or other that makes a person unattractive to you? I mean a trait or a habit so trivial and yet it turns you off for some reason...and sometimes you don't even know why.

I'll give you an example of one that I saw today. I go riding on this trail and it has a restroom and a drinking fountain. I've noticed that women only use the drinking fountain to refill their water bottles. Men use it to either refill their water bottles or other men will use it to take a drink.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm turned off by the ones who use it to take a drink. Although this may be totally wrong, I make these connotations about them as being less intelligent, less organized, and crude. Of course it doesn't help that, while they're taking a drink, they slurp loudly just like a ten year old boy either....that might help sway my opinion.

And if I see them go back to whatever activity they were doing without showing awareness of anyone around them, this decreases my attraction further.

I know that this is a totally silly thing to be concerned with but I think everyone probably does it.

I will add this though, if you get to know the person and really end up liking them, you might end up thinking those same traits are really cute.....at least at the beginning anyway. (it might change later and end up really annoying you again).

So if you feel like participating in my silly thread, what little quirks turn you off in a potential partner?

Okay, I can't think of one for myself right now but one which always makes me laugh when I think about it is my friend Janet has this quirk she hates in men. The way they put their cutlery when they finish a meal. I kid you not. She broke up with a guy because he put his cutlery in the 10-to-2 position instead of straight down the plate...!! She's no more highly educated or of higher social standing than anyone else - but for some reason this really quirky thing irritates her.

Oh now I thought of one for me!!!

First date. A guy going to the bathroom during a meal. Before a meal, after a meal no problems. During...it's a no no. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. A guy goes to the bathroom during the meal, I'm unlikely to see him again.

LOL...I wonder if the men are as weird as we are! If they only knew that we're watching their every move! lol I know a woman who judges men by their shoes.

The only thing I can think of right this minute is if a guy I was on a date with, chews with his mouth open. I know a few of my girlfriends who could live with that but I just can't.... I JUST CAN'T!!!!!

That really made me laugh because I know a girl like that too!!!! Although to be fair she was justified with how it started, her ex-bf turned up to work one day in completely different shoes on each foot! She was of the mind that if he couldn't get his shoes right, what important stuff was he likely to get wrong!

It's about manners... It is not acceptable to go to the bathroom during a meal...

I'm so glad that's not just me. Many people I've said it to have said I'm old fashioned and it's quirky to expect that now! :D

Well, I have bad manners then. :o I have a teeny, tiny bladder and often cannot not wait until after a meal to use the restroom...when you gotta go, you gotta go, it's a bodily function.

I would never date a guy with a seventh toe on his left foot. This would be so rude.

How about "the shadow"? I went out with one for about a month. We went browsing the mall at one point and he shadowed me. Everytime I took a step to look at something, he took a step. He followed me everywhere. It drove me crazy!

And when we'd walk somewhere, I felt like I had to guide where we were going. It was like having a kid with me.

Yup, agree. If I wanted to go out with a kid, I would have taken my niece instead!

Another turn on - guys who are vain!! I went out with a guy (super-cute) but ggeeezz... every time we passed a mirror - he'd stop and take a look at himself.. and even does this 'smirk' look..

I don't know about unattractive, but things that turn me off are someone who:

-flirts alot

-goes to bars or clubs all the time

-smokes

-listens to rap

-looks at herself in the mirror way too much

Funny how it's almost all women who have replied to this thread!

I think men in general are not that fussy about little quirks - as long as she doesn't pick her ass or nose in front of us, we're fine. Personally I really don't care how a woman holds her cutlery, when she goes to the lavatory, or what type of shoes she is wearing.

Anyway, we all know that once you meet Mr Right, you will ignore all the quirks you find irritating, settle down with him anyway, and then content yourself with moaning about them occasionally to your friends.

Worked w/ someone who did that & I thought something was wrong w/ him. I felt bad.

I forgot about this incident from yesterday. Went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and was standing in a lineup. Two people ahead of me was a guy who had on shorts and flip flops. Why I noticed him was that he didn't have a shirt on, looked like he had oiled himself down and yes, ladies, he was cut and tanned. As he walked by, he stopped to chat. Not only did he waft suntan lotion but...strong body odour.

Immediate turn-off, even beyond the fact that he was strutting his stuff...

I DO have to admit that it'd be funny to hear a man say that he judges his dates by their shoes! lol

So does this mean that it's a lot easier for men to find women than for women to find men?

maybe those men who slurp are better at certian things, like in bed and pleasing you, and don't need a baby... I mean a water bottle to take a sip.

What about those women who drink from thier water bottles that wear lipstick and then go to the water cooler and fill up thier water bottles leaving lipstick behind on the tap of the water cooler.

If I'm not attracted to their mind, I'm not going to be attracted to them in bed.

It's 95 degrees out --and humid--so not many are putting lipstick on to ride/walk/jog/skate. And those who actually venture out in this weather are not the glamour queens.

And even if they did wear lipstick, you open your water bottle to fill it. You don't fill it through the mouthpiece.
