OM has taken over my household! !

Recommended Posts

For twelve years now I've been loyal to our cat. Now, all of a sudden this little stray has come into our lives. He's tried to endear himself and ingratiate himself..And for the most part he's succeeded. But now he's gone TOO far. He has sprayed and marked his territory. He has made our bedroom smell. He has stepped over the line. He's trying to get it on with our 12 year old female cat. I feel violated. My bedroom will never be the same.

HELP!

Touche say pussycat! Ok who let him in? Get those sprays that "unmark" the territory.

Also don't let him in the room. :lmao:

I'm afraid you're STUCK with him!!!

Seriously, I had a male cat do that. I even got him spayed as soon as he weighed enough to be able to. There's no 'fixing' those guys.

They have 'mommy' issues. ;)

Male cats will STILL spray even if you fix 'm. Only afterwards when he sprays it won't smell as bad...There's still a slight scent.

My suggestion? A spray bottle, fill it with water -And wait. LOL! (I love cats, but spraying cats are annoying as heck!)

Oh, JB don't worry, he's locked out of the bedroom. But it's SO haaaarrrddd! He's such a sweet little thing.:(

And BTDT, you give me no hope whatsoever. Will my bedroom stink for all time now? I spent half my damn day trying to get rid of the stench. Had to dry clean my feather bed and my feather comforter and sprayed stuff all over the bedroom. It still stinks.

So you're saying that even if I get professional help I'll still be stuck with this problem? Are you saying this problem can't be fixed?

You think it's because the Mother cat abandoned him?

I don't know what to do now. I can't fix him but I can't get rid of the sweet thing! I mean he's absolutely adorable. He loves me like no other. What do I do?

He seeks me out every day. He purrs in my ear. What am I to do? How can I just cast him aside?

Call the vet, or your local Petco. They'll have ideas. Can you not get him foxed because you can't afford it? The vet may be able to work with you of yiou ask and explain the situation.

Touche,

You must give in to your passions. You just gotta. That and buy some Fabreeze. My cat sprayed and I sprayed that right behind him. He would come back and wonder where his scent went. After a while he accepted that I was marking my territory. Mama don't play that, Kitty. <wagging finger at cat>

No, I can afford to get him fixed but the problem is that I've been told that even after that they can still spray and mark their territory. It may do no good.

You see, once they get used to spraying in a certain area they don't want to stop. Look this up if you don't believe me. They just keep coming back to the same area.. I don't want to get rid of him. But what do I do?

(Why is some of this sounding awfully familiar?)

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Eeek, Touche, that's a tough one. My cat was a real a**hole. I mean, he loved me, but only sometimes. Most of the time, he was just pissed off at me.

MOST male cats, when you get them fixed, it's fine, there's no spraying. But there's a certain percentage....and no, I'm afraid I don't think there's a whole lot you can do. The good news is, if they're fixed, it doesn't stink - as badly.

Which was my problem, I didn't know he was doing it until I watched him. And the older he got, the more nervy he got with it. The whole house was HIS, and he was going to make sure everyone knew it! Anything new brought into the house? He had to mark it as his. Some strange animal came into the yard? He had to go crazy marking stuff INside the house.

And yes, he was orphaned at a very young kitty age. I was momma, and he listened to me, but only so much.

Ugh...I know this is tough....especially when he loves on you, and purrs on you...how old is he?

Oh my god! It's SO good to have another OW who understands. We don't know how old he is. I suspect he's about a year old though. We just moved here and we were outside and heard this loud meowing in the woods at the edge of our property. This cat was hungry (and I don't mean just for food)...We took him in and he took over. It's that simple.

He demands attention and won't accept his proper place in this world. He thinks he owns us now! It's cute and pathetic all at the same time.

How can I pull away? I can't stand the stench anymore. But I love my little Rudy. What do I do?

Naawwww....I know how you feel. I'm afraid I had to get rid of my Oliver. And it just about killed me. He got to the point that if I even moved my feet under the covers, I was the uber-enemy. I was scared in my own bed! I was constantly under attack.

Have you taken him to a vet yet?

Ugh. I have a kitten like that. Gizmo is our alpha male. He was here 2 days, and thought he owned the house. Started bullying my 7 yr. old kitty! Anyways, while cats can still spray after they're fixed, the smell isn't as bad, and he may never even spray after that. My cats been fixed for 8 months now, and has never sprayed at all. You're a good person though for taking him in. :)

I know EXACTLY how you feel. But I really can't get rid of him. I've never had a connection with another cat like I have with this one. He's the most loving and affectionate thing I've ever come across. I've had many cats in my life. But he makes me feel so special. He acts like I'm the only one who understands him. And when he rubs up against me and purrs in my ear I just KNOW he loves me like no other.

How can I get rid of him? I really don't know what to do because he really stinks. But I really love the little fellow.

Your little guy sounds way sweeter than mine was. Mine was pissed off at the world. His sweet moments with me got fewer and farther between. To the point that those moments were non-existant.

Yours can probably be saved. I don't think you can cure him of spraying, but I think, with work, you can at least control the situation.

Oh, the kneading thing...so irresistable! Right now he's rubbing up against my leg and being extremely vocal. I'm not sure how to handle it. I mean if my H came out here and saw what was going on well he wouldn't be too pleased. I promised him that I was going to get a handle on this.

Neuter that cat asap.

get some natures miracle and clean the pee spots.

put several friendly pee places (litter boxes) around the house to get him to decide to pee in those. (put some cat porn mags near the boxes so he is enticed to get in the box)

they sell a thing called a scat mat.... gives a static elec. charge and keeps pets either off furniture or out of a room if placed across a door.

So in conclusion..... rip the cats nads off- then electrocute it. If that fails a few tumbles in the dryer on perm. press seems to change their attitude about pissing all over, and the come out nice and fluffy! :lmao::p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p (this is a joke people)

We just a 9 week old kitty!! He's sooo gorgeous! Our little Marmite! He likes to sleep next to me curled up against my neck, or he'll climb up to my chest by my neck when I'm watching tv and lie down purrring!! He's the sweetest! I never thought of myself as a cat person before!

We've had to reserver another male kitty though (white one to be called Mayo) as we're both not home all day and we fear he may be getting lonely! I'm popping home for as long as I can every lunch hour, but we've read that it's really not fair for him to alone all day and I can't keep popping back forever.

Do you think it's the right thing to do?! Will be ok with a new friend?!

Poor Touche! I hope you find a solution for your OM problem!!

Touche - I have a male cat...Something is wrong with males ( I will try and just stick to cats though)

I got mine fixed thought everything was cool with this cat. But not the case. He HUMPS every stuff animal he can carry in his mouth. I have discussed this with my vet. I thought maybe the surgery got screwed up.

She told me that some male cats do this. I will probably never have another cat again that will do this. One in a lifetime thing I guess.

His Fav is a stuffed cow and a cookie monster toy. He is getting alittle more brave these days. He use to do this in a room alone , in the basement or under the table. Now I have the problem that he does it anywhere.. Can you imagine walking in the living room and seeing a humping cat with a toy...

Good luck to you with the cat...

Cats are social when there are not territory issues (unneutered males fighting). They do need friends and things to do. I have 3 of the lil bastards that drive me crazy here. Romping and stealing things from me all the time......... one thinks it is a dog and fetchs slippers.

When we only had one, she was very lonely.

One Klingon Cat just disconnected my wireless router......the other Nutsack Pig just knocked all my coasters off the table.....

Kitties are just lovely.......

Die kitty die! :lmao:

I tried that with one of my kitties and she just demonstrated her ability to learn quickly by jumping over the mat.

They're great aren't they!! I tried filling some papers on Tuesday, it took twice as long as it should have trying to get him out of the file, off the pile to be filed.... etc! And eating on our laps is difficult until I manage to train him to leave us alone!!

When do kittys need to get neutered? (I am seeing the vet Sat for his first shots, but would be handy to know anyway.) Will they both be ok until then? They'll both be wee kittys....!

did you use the duct tape on the cats paws at the same time? :lmao:

or a knee high nylon over the cats head?

(again people I am kidding)

But something fun to do to your kitties that will not hurt them is to tie a long sock (not tight but just slightly snug) around the cats body....... they refuse to walk..... Now that makes for a very well behaved kitty! :lmao:

Here we can neuter them at 2 lbs.... but that is because so many irresponsible people will not get their adopted kittens neutered so you have to do so before they go home with the adopters.

Most vets will tell you at 6 months...... I usually do the deed at 4-6 months.

Rabies vacs are required at 16 weeks so I just get them done then and save another trip to the vet for a rabies vac.

Male cat neutering is quick and not complicated at all......male cats recover very very quickly from neutering.
