Ok here it goes....I'm 32 and he is 39 we have been together for 5 and half years. We have had many ups and downs. Things will be good for awhile then not so good. He is bi-polar(who does not take meds), pot addict, and has recently told me he is a sex addict. He tells me that he will start fights to make me leave the house so he can jack off or look at porn on the net. I knew that he looked at porn but did not know it was that bad. He told me that this has been going on since the start of our relationship to which I was clueless. I can't help blame the bi-polar on his behaviors. He simply refuses to take medication for it, other than smoking pot. I have my own problems with depression and find it very hard to deal with his mood swings and addictions. Sometimes I feel like going insane. When his mood swing is gone he can talk about it and promise to seek help. But never does. Now he is saying that he is willing to get help. He wants to go to a relationship counsler. I want to believe him but not sure if he is willing to stick with it. Am I the only peson who is going through this type of thing or what?

YOU ASK: "Am I the only peson who is going through this type of thing or what?"

No, and most haven't got a clue of why they put themselves through this chaos and agravation. Many hang around hoping things will get better...but your guy has proven over and over that even though he says he's going to get help...he doesn't.

YOU have to take responsiblity for the problems you're having because you have the choice of staying or moving on.

Going to a relationship counselor is NOT going to help with this guy's problems. If he is bipolar he HAS to take medications to control his symptoms before he is ever going to be ready for a true relationship with you or anyone else. I know a lot about bipolar (firsthand) and he is obviously self-medicating with the pot; and the sexual extremes and impulsiveness are also related to the bipolar. If he were seeing a psychiatrist and taking the proper medications consistently, I am sure his sitatuion would improve greatly. THEN maybe the two of you could work on things with counseling. But until he is ready to do that, I would not hang around and wait for things to get better. Perhaps a counselor could help persuade him that he needs to be seeing a doctor and taking medication. At least that would be a start. I wish you the best of luck.
