How can I tell someone I’m seeing that I don’t like the way they dress ?

 

This girl dresses odd. I usually date very feminine dressing girls and this one dresses bohemian or whatever you call it and it’s a turn of for me.

 

Last time I saw her she was wearing purple pants ?! Who the hell wears purple pants !!!

 

I just think she needs better clothes, she’s attractive and has nice features that go with all colors but her taste in clothes sucks !

Dunno, you cannot often tell someone how to dress, but you can buy them new clothes to get them to change. Might want to try it.

 

I haven't seen Purple pants in a long time, but what goes around comes around, trends change.

You don't say anything. You accept her as she is, or move on. Eventually, if you have a relationship, you may earn the right to express an opinion, and may earn the respect to have it heard.

 

Obviously, you don't think she's good enough for you as is, so you shouldn't date her. I wonder: is the problem with her? Or, with you?

I think you need to post a picture of how these purple pants look? MC Hammer style Genie Pants or skin tight down to the ankles, just curious, because skin tight on a good figure, I could care less what color they were, green, yellow or purple lol.

given what appears to be her eccentric nature, perhaps artistic, it sounds like she's in a different scene that you prob wouldn't vibe with. why try and changer her to fit your mainstream expectations?

This sounds like a Seinfeld episode lol. I would suggest getting used to it. If she has a style and she dresses appropriately for whatever setting shes in then theres nothing that should be done. You have to accept her.

 

If there are outfits you like to see her in you could let her know. But I would never tell anyone to stop wearing anything unless its universally bad and they're just not aware and you're doing them favor by letting them know.

They’re not tight workout spandex pants like everyone’s thinking. They are cat lady type of pants and I have a great time with her but her style just gets to me

 

She also wears boots like cowboy boots

This isn’t Texas !!

So, before you started her, she was wearing club clothes all the time, and/or youthful girly clothes?

 

I mean, you obviously had an interest in her and started dating her so you were already very aware of how she dresses. Why is this suddenly a problem NOW when it's likely been the way she'd dressef from t he second you met her? :confused:

If her style turns you off, she's not the one for you. We all know clothing style is a form of personal expression, and those ugly purple pants are how she enjoys expressing herself. She likes them, she takes great pleasure in wearing them. If you go on about how she should dress differently is a stab at her, her self expression and what makes her happy. She will feel insulted by your request.

You mean like the 90's thrift store look lots of people have been wearing, right? Well at least in urban areas. Yeah not sexy. But yeah you can't tell her that directly. Or not even indirectly. If it's one or two offensive items, i can help you think of a way around it but if you don't like her "style" overall, date someone else :)

Here’s an update so we go out last night and had a great time. She was dressed really nice she had like a really neat coat and I asked her about it and she said “ my students got it for me as a gift “ I just laughed becauee I knew it was something she wouldn’t normally wear.

Wow, how controlling are you? If you don't like that the girl is bohemian, don't date her. Why should she tone it down for a man? She is expressing herself in her clothing, so if you don't like it, you don't like her. It's kind of different than with men and how they dress because their range of "acceptable" is all pretty much the same and not much self-expression so it doesn't always mean anything other than disingenuousness. But women tell you who they are with their clothes.

Maybe in your world it does but I was given lemons so I tried making lemonade so if it doesn’t work out I guess I’ll just go to the next
