I met a woman at work a few days ago and got her number. She seemed pretty nice and we joked around a bit so as I was cashing her out I asked for her number. Anyway, I called her earlier and she said "Can you text me? I'm napping?" Anyway, I'm frustrated because it seems like when I meet a woman there's always has to be a hicup. Nothing can ever flow smoothly. I guess I still need to work on my people picker and judgement skills.

My thoughts are if she was napping why the heck did she answer the phone? And why didn't she just say she'd text me back after she woke up? She is younger than me so mabye she's a texter but whatever I went by the way I do it, a phone call. I'm not going to text her, I reached out to her already and if she wants to get to know me she can call me or text me back.

Yea that's weird if she's asleep what's the point in texting? I think your doing the right thing let her get in touch with you now.

Maybe she doesnt like talking on the phone, I know I dont it gets a bit awkward especially if u dont know the person that well... she could well just prefer texting I wouldnt read too much into it x

Why wouldn't you just text her? As a young person I don't talk on the phone.

Some of us don't have unlimited text plans.

As much as the old fashioned 'pick up the phone' attitude is popular here, the reality is that for most young people (and many older ones too) texting is the de facto method of communication. They get to consider your message and reply as and when it suits them, with no pressure, inconvenience, or time constraints that a phone call can entail.

I'd just text her. Why make a big deal out of it?

If the issue was that she prefers text to phone, then she should have said "I'm napping but I'll text you later" or whatever. But to answer the phone, claim to be napping, and then tell him to text her is, well, off-putting. Let her make the next move.
