Personally, it's not a term I use, though I'd think of it as a woman who had no direction, thoughts, or motivations of her own. Like an empty vessel. Don't know many men who'd be interested in that, and none worth knowing.

I thought a stepford wife was one who stayed home, hired a nanny to do everything so she can do what she wants, shop, spend money, hang out with friends at the rich club.

If you have concerns about your wife/marriage, why not post them in the marriage section?

When was the last time you saw a post on this forum from a female that said she treat's her man like a king? Maybe you have but I haven't.

fiat500 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 OKAY.... you married a woman that treats you really well. and this is a bad thing??? stepford wife is usually associated with katie holmes. if you're wife acts like katie holmes when she used to interview, then she's stepford. treating you really well does not make her a robot.

You both sound very blessed We need this kind of positive energy in the marriage forum But, no, that isn't a stepford wife. A stepford wife is sort of the female equivalent of the "whipped" husband. If you each treat each other like gold, no one is whipped or stepford. You are just very, very lucky Enjoy!
aerogurl87 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 According to my ex best friend, a stepford wife is a woman who likes to do domestic duties such as cooking, cleaning, and looking after her children full time, or a woman who does her best to keep her husband happy to the best of her ability. And she called me a stepford wife in training which I took as a compliment.

Those people passing judgment on your relationship dynamics sound annoyingly up in your business. People like that probably have too many issues of their own for anyone to be taking their opinions all that seriously. IMO.

I see a stepford wife as someone who gives up everything to make her husband happy without really asking for that respect back. Being good to your spouse is one thing, taking it for granted is another. From the sound of it, I don't think your wife is anywhere NEAR being a Stepford Wife, just that small-minded people are trying to poison y'alls increasingly strong, happy marriage. besides, I have the feeling that if it ever got to that point where your wife felt like you were taking her for granted, she'd speak up. LOUDLY!

A Stepford wife is oddly dependent on his input because otherwise she would not be able to make choices. Is your wife not able to make her own choices? Or have her own thoughts? Does she vapidly listen to you without recourse or only compliment your every sentence letting you know how absolutely brilliant you are? Does she expect nothing from you besides input and commands?
